Title: User names
Post by: Sean Clark on July 20, 2025, 10:33:58 AM
**Admin post**

Please remember that if you are registered under a 'nickname' to always sign your posts off with a real name.

I say real name...if you're cautious about using your real world name...just make one up! But it does assist in getting to know you better and in communication between forum members.

My name is my forum name, so I am  Sean.

If your forum name is Wizard999, and real world name is George, but you don't want people to know that, use Jeremy instead.

It may seem old fashioned  amd not getting down with the kids, but I'd rather speak to 'Jeremy' than 'Wizard999'.

Thank you and enjoy your Sunday 🙂

Sean

Thanks for bringing this up Sean.
It does seem nagging, but then we are wanting a civil discourse rather than a social media one.

If contributors will not use a name then this is not the place for them.

A basic level of social ability is needed or can be learned.

Maybe folk should consider the RFCM forum to be similar to phoning a radio "talk in" station. Admittedly  some music stations do encourage "big jobber", "JJJ" et al but they are desperate for listeners.  I would not introduce myself in any other way than as  "martin".

Manners and consideration help a group to function. That is societal.

Not a problem chaps. It is just an understanding of how we interact as pleasant adults.

Thanks

I was taught by my parents (I know these are rare things these days) that if you believe something strongly enough to speak out about it you should be prepared to put your name to it. As far as I am concerned if you don't put your name to it don't expect me to take notice of your views.
Thingy.
Oops
John.

Agreed John.
It is also part of RFCM being a small community where there is more direct friendship through gaming than in most larger communities.  ie We know each other by sight and speech.

However, I am still under continued legal threat and active libel activity from ******* ***** who was on the forum.
