Hello once again, one and all,
Things over here at Bayonets and Brushes are starting to feel like they are picking up a head of steam and we have a slew of posts to share with you with bags full of miniature dice dealing miniatures.
We thought we would start the ball rolling with some new releases for one of our existing ranges (actually, other than the SCW probably our tentpost range) and that's the Dutch Metropolitan Army from 1940 and the KNIL from all of the fighting over in the Pacific.
These miniatures practically finish the range of vehicles that need to be produced for these two armies with the possible exception of a couple of Chevy light trucks and some home made armoured cars for the KNIL, but anyway I'm starting to wax lyrical, so without further ado please let me introduce to you the new additions to the Bayonets & Brushes family:

All visitors are welcome and any comments will be read with great interest!
Is there an on line shop please?
John
Hello Lee
It is good to hear things are going well for you.
This is however a discussion forum for RFCM rules and not an area for some extra advertising for you.
I say all this so that this site does not become a repository for any/all advertisers to use as a free selling point.
I hope this sounds fair? Can you also promote the RFCM forum on your site please.
martin :)
Hi Martin,
Apologies Martin, I had no intention of hijacking the site. My thought is that our ranges support/are supported by Peter Pigs so it made sense to me, but if thats not the intended purpose of the page then thats on me and I apologise.
Can I ask how to raise awareness in the community about the models? Im guessing actual discussion pieces about the vehicles themselves and not the models would be the way to go?
and of course Id be very happy to put Peter Pig onto the Bayonets and Brushes website. Your figures are practically all I use these days :D
This does segueway into one really relevant question if I can though Martin? Scaling! Its the bane of my life. How do you go about scaling your vehicles next to the miniatures? Do you use true scale? Or do you follow another plan?
Hello Lee
You have been most gracious thank you.
The RFCM site is not a site for advertisers. There are none. This allows the site to be about playing RFCM rules and using PP made items.
If every few months you want to drop in an occasional 2 line "we have some news stuff, click on this link" then that sounds fine.
Members are encouraged to comment about the things they have bought including prices and sources. That is all good.
Members are not encouraged to promote sales, catalogues and announcements by folk making money from the hobby.
e.g. I bought some hatches from company X for my PBI army. Here they are all painted and installed. I recommend them. YES
e.g. Company R has a sale on for its German 15mm armour which is cheaper than the PP armour. Here is their price list for the sale. Also here is a list of the new products they are working on. I have added on a link to their podcast about what rules they like. NO
If we let advertisers onto the site, even though their products are very relevant, where would that stop? There are no advertisers on the site at present. That is the way it will remain, unless members want more advertising?
The above is not specifically about giving you a hard time Lee (sorry), but more about preserving this friendly space for group chat and activity without commercial interruption (except for PP of course).
martin :)
Here are a couple of really good sites for product advertising.
The wargames website seems to be quite popular. I think there is a fee for advertising, but it is small.

This is the one I use. TMP. Run by Bill Armintrout. Their rates are very reasonable and I have paid to advertise there for the last 20 years. Recommended.

martin :)
Hey Martin,
Thats all totally fair and I have absolutely no problem toeing the line at all.
Just so Im absolutely clear.
A simple line about a blog going into the history of vehicles used in different conflicts is OK (because this is the kind of writing that is my jam) using images of the models is OK so long as the models are coincidental to the historical content. Even posting a line saying new stuff is available is OK, just so long as Im not waxing lyrical about selling stuff that undermines the rules systems you have written.
Is that all correct?
That sounds fine Lee. Thank you.
See how it goes.
Don't forget the RFCM link from your site too please.
martin :)
Ive had a couple of people suggest reciprocal links. I think Im going to add a section on our About page. Do you have a brand icon you can send me to put on there by any chance Martin?
oh and thanks very much for the recommendations for advertising Martin. I think I will hang on for paid advertising until we release our next big range which will be the Italian WW2 stuff. Missed the boat with the Japanese on this one but the Italian range is enormous so that could get some good traction. :)
All good news Lee.
There is no RFCM badge but just mention "RFCM". The link would be to the RFCM site not Peter Pig.
I assume your Italian range will not duplicate anything that Peter pig already makes? Thanks.
martin :)
Well the range covers the entire gammut of the Italians in WW2 and its over 150 pieces at the last count so I would say that any of the vehicles that PP do will be duplicated, but then I would assume that you would address the most prevalent of the vehicles so I would expect it to be a given. That said though Martin, its also the case that the Spanish Civil War range, along with the Dutch and Japanese ranges we do cover all of the vehicles as well.
We just steer clear of the infantry as I havent decided what format I want to attack that market in yet.
I can see an obvious conflict here. Maybe it would just be more politic if I didnt post :(
Sadly Lee you are correct.
Your ranges covering mainstream subjects do cancel out the Peter Pig products.
3D modelling is currently killing off PP, this is unavoidable. Progress(?)
I would like PP to continue for more years and am supported by many.
3D will kill off PP, but maybe not just yet?
martin :)
Not in my house, Martin! My figures are 99% metal and Peter Pig. And I have a lot more purchases planned before I shuffle away into dotage.
As stated this is an RFCM/Piggie group and advertising other manufacturers has always been discouraged.
Lee feel free to post on topics other than your own/other ranges though! The more the merrier!
We are an inclusive bunch, but have to maintain the RFCM focus, otherwise this would become just a general topic forum. As Martin has said, TMP and The Wargames Website both take advertising.
I have to agree with Sean here Martin. I absolutely love my Peter Pig stuff and its the backbone of my Spanish Civil War stuff. I dont want to do miniatures in resin really. I jsut think it looks cheap and Im old school, like Sean, I like the look and feel of metal and I like being able to work with it.
That said, vehicles? I absolutely love the resin material for working with vehicles AND because I can actually model in a 3D space it brings an incredible amount of versatility within reach.
Anyway, the point is well made, I wont be pointing the way to my website on RFCM but I hope Ill still be accepted as one of the community? ;)
Thanks Lee
martin :)
