The Bournemouth Beach head show is to be held on the weekend of 7th and 8th of February 2026.
Are you thinking of going and what might you be doing?
Last year the members here played various games. There was the air war, PBI and AK.
Last year I went on the Sunday only.
My initial suggestions would be TCR, AK, Napoleonic thang or Gridded PITS.
martin :)
I expect that Miles and I will do our AK47 Wild Geese scenario (to be trailed at Colours) there?

I shall look to attend again. I enjoyed it this year.

If all goes to plan, Ben, Paddy, Tom and I will put this game on both days.
David & Ben
This is good news.
WW1, Wild Geese,PITS??
martin :)
Sounds a good mix ?
We hope our AK game will showcase the rules with one or two minor in game adjustments to help set the scene of the film, but by and large will be a recognisable new AK game format nevertheless!
Miles
That is well good Miles.
martin :)
I intend to have a good walk around to see what is tucked away in the corners.
There are often small groups of games/competitions in the corners.
There will be a PP game to accompany the other games members have mentioned here.
martin :)
It is in my diary. I enjoyed it this year.
It is becoming a major show.
The competitions make the show much bigger than it would otherwise be.
Most promising.
martin :)
The Competitions pay for the show. As both elements need to be there together.
I know they tried running a "Competitions only" event a few years ago at the Southampton cricket ground, and it didnt work out as good as they thought ?
So from a Competitions point of view the rest of the show is a necessary "evil" for it all to survive?
Miles
I did have a good walk around the competitions. They are well supported. The GW hall must have had 160 or more people in it. The upstairs Warlord area also had about 30 people there. The ancients had about 30 players too.
Tucked away there are often smaller groups. I dropped into a railway board game area and a miniatures area with two games representing a rule set.
My numbers are only guesses of course.
I didn't get to any of the talks, but they are a good idea.
There is no bring and buy, but they can be more trouble than they are worth. Salute dropped their bring and buy for various reasons. The Colours bring and but still gets along well. Not sure if the "local" type club shows are dying off. I think they are. In this South west area Beachhead is a new show. Fisticuffs, Bovy, Mudford, Yeovil, STAB, Southern militaire , Theale, Chippenham, Wells, Henry Harbin et al have all gone.
In summary , Beach head is a very good show from my point of view.
martin :)
Note: I do the Sunday, which is probably quieter.
