Title: Napoleonic thing (Countdown)
Post by: martin goddard on June 11, 2025, 01:47:38 PM
Just knocking ideas about.

Ben has found and printed some really nice Vauban walls for Stewart. Made up of sections.

Countdown. A row of tethered horses. Maybe 6? Move around the table perimeter. Thus, a 3x2 foot table has perimeter of 10 feet = 20 x 6" segments.
A house frontage on fire? Troops carrying looted large items. A cart.......
Other ideas for a piece that looks Ok anywhere on the napoleonic/Spanish table?

A 6x4 could be cut into 4 tables. Not sure what colour/texture would be desirable? 25mm paving would be too big.

Buildings. Pirate range?

Hi Martin
Pirate range houses should look alright, I was intending to use set initially

I would happy share the expense of a new mat if an appropriate colour can be agreed on

Spanish Civil War Houses will probably look good too if we're  setting it in the Penninsular.

Yes, but PP doesn't produce SCW buildings ;)

Some of the Mexican buildings could work too? I've just realised that these are not listed on the Scenery section of the website, but only with the Mexican figures.

Good point Simon.

Good idea. The Mexican buildings might work OK.
I would expect that most players will use something they already have rather than spend out on 10 new buildings.

There might be a need for some buildings to be on fire too.
In these sieges most of the heavy gun damage would be on the outer walls. However, mortar and howitzer shooting might fall inside the walls.

I wonder if Ben would mind making the walls to order to for memebers??

I hear he's very accommodating and a suitable payment can be arranged  ;D

An excellent idea Ben.
As pertaining to the Napoleonic thing, the table edge upon which the wall will be positioned will measure 2 feet.
This would probably be constituted by 2 gun turrets, 3 walls, a crumbled wall and a gate??

Ben, you are welcome/invited to market stuff here and show photos too.
I think Weymouth Mike is painting up a set for Stewart?

Will the position on the table of the breach be pertinent, Martin (i.e. how modular does the wall need to be in juggling its components)?

Not sure Simon. I think the wall will be scenery with no specific purpose of any breach piece. It would look nice though.
