Reminders for the day.

2.I will print off battle sheets.
3. Players should have a look at the play sheet and battle sheet on the PP website to remind them of the game and how it plays.
4. One colour of D6 please.
5. Two battles.
I cannot see a natural split to make the armies into two opposing camps. Any ideas?
martin :)

No worries Ian. that is easy. I will work one out and post it here in case others have advice.

Can players now fix what army they are using. This will help with the planning of the day including possible teams. It is nice to know.

There are those who live around the Mediterranean and those who might challnge them. Although an alliance of Nubians and Carolingians might seem a bit odd.
No Armies with Elephants; Tony Bath ould be most dissapointed - for next time I might try and bring Carthaginians.

The event is shaping up well. It will celebrate the D day landings. I wonder of there will be some D Day games at Entoyment? That would be nice to see.
Stewart can you book an extra table please?
martin :)

Here is the army book for CK if anyone needs to see it.
Do make some battle tactic markers for your chosen army.
I have some but not loads of the same thing.
martin :)
I have just realised that my Carolingians are not finished.
Some of the skirmishers are not done.
I will get the paint pot out and remedy this tactical mistake.
martin :)
Martin and all a 4th table has been booked at Entoyment
Stewart
Thanks Stewart.

I've just started reading a very good book on Mithradetes. What a chap!
Sean are you coming down for C&K 7th June?
Stewart
Have you read about his penis/knife trick?
martin :)

Very much so

Do tell us more, Martin :)
Simon
Well.....his son had rebelled and was a real threat.
Mithridites said "we should meet one to one".
The son's bodyguards said "Ok but no weapons".
Mithridites strapped a large dagger to his penis.
Upon being searched he said "Do you want to check my penis?"
The guards demurred.
Mithridites went to the meeting and stabbed his son.
His whole family spent a lot of time killing each other.
I expect that the social services were involved.
He was a great commander but suffered from a too large hubris/penis.
martin :)
We have a good selection of Armies
Ian
Stewart
I'm am hopeful. I rate chances at 94.3%. If I do I'll bring my zee Germans. No panzerfausts or Tigers though.
Great Sean
Stewart
Thank you for the history lesson, Martin.
That's one thing I'll never be able to unlearn ;D
Simon
I haven't reached that part yet 😁
Mithridates clearly had. It's all getting a bit Benny Hill.
He was a superb king in view of the problems he had to overcome.
He was however brutal, vindictive and cunning.
Possibly a man of his times.
Probably better to be the Roman emperor. You might get killed by the Praetorians or similar but you can send out an army and repeat if it gets beaten. Just send another army. You often don't need to lead the army yourself. For most kings a lost battle was far more serious as they had the one army.

I discovered that I have no dead or half markers. Will be doing that this week.
martin :)
I am very jealous that if you find a gap in one of your armies you can just take a walk up the garden to get your new figures. But at the speed Mike and Nigel turn my orders around, it's only slightly quicker than ordering online 😅
I have now finished my dead and half bases.
My Carolingians are looking really ready. What can go wrong in the battles?
martin :)
I think all is set for the day (great plans can go wrong though).
Cloths.
Stewart, Derek and martin(two) are each bringing one. Anyone else have one to bring?
martin :)

Due to the hospital cancelling my appointment for Saturday, I can now make it. However, I can see we are 10 players and I don't want to upset the fine balance of things. If there's space I can bring my Ancient Germans.
No worries if not, I'll hopefully get down for the next get day.
Sean please come along if you're free, we can always double up for a game if everyone one else makes it.
If you have a table set up ,that would be useful as well
Stewart
Fantastic. Not sure if Ive everything I need for a table though. I'll check.
Sean I am always happy to double up on a game.
I am still learning the rules and the period of History ?
Miles
Sounds good. I can bring down a tables worth of scenery and a cloth.
Yes please Sean.
martin :)
What time are we converging on Entoyment? 9am?
Is Ian at your hotel Sean?
Entoyment 9am is good.
Saturday 7th June
martin :)
I couldn't get a room in that one. I'm in Bournemouth at the Heathlands
Hi Sean
Yes 0900 start
Stewart
See you then.
Looking forward to that Sean

I need to complain about Nigels brown dice.
1. They didn't have Pigs on the 6.
2. He rolled really well.
3. They were brown.
That is all I have to say.
😂
But thank you for a lively days gaming. Way better than a colonoscopy.
A big loss to Nigel. If my partner, Alan uses this forum, it was all my fault. If he doesn't, I'm blaming him 😂
Then I defied the odds and beat Chris and his Pontic army. Don't ask me how. But there will l be songs written about my tactical genius in years to come.
