On the subject of PBI when will the printed rules be released?
Martyn S
The printed rules are awaiting some funding.
I hope to get on with it soon, but sales have been slow on the pdfs so far (20).
I suspect that folk believe that we have sold 100s?
There are more and more rule sets about these days. That is probably good for gamers.
We have some advertising coming along which might help?
As a quiz. How many bergepanthers do you think PP sold in the last 20 years?
This might be quite illuminating for folk.
martin :)
You need to get the new PBI demonstrated at shows.

I've already said that, Stewart - you have to guess a different number :)
Simon
Sorry Simon
I read it as 57
57 would likely have been a tad ambitious...
You might have to now buy one yourself, to get the current correct answer of 5 up to your second guess of 6, Stewart? ;D
I do like the model, though, and I assume the moulds are still nice and crisp. So maybe I will have to get one myself. It could look good on Miles's Berlin game table.
Perhaps Martin should start a painting competition of such under-appreciated packs?
Simon
I like this idea.
I may buy one myself now 😁
I might be a signed sculpt, Sean? But doubtless a collector's item in any case.
To put us out of our misery, Martin - how many Bergpanthers have you sold in the last 20 years?
Simon
Fifteen.

Well into the double digits, then, and Stewart wins!
Since Sean and I will each be getting one with our next orders, that'll bring the overall average up to nearly one a year ;)

Not too sure what I bring. If I get time I might have some Russians.
I was going to bring a table, but Stewart told me off ? As I was going to do a town scene "somewhere in Berlin" using some of my many varied buildings without going too mad, keep it to the rules and normal table set up ?
Miles
Good to see you signed up Miles.
Stewart wanted to keep it normal because any special set ups might need play testing, for which no time has been put aside.
Do please bring buildings etc to use in the normal way.
I shall be bringing my tall buildings to use on building templates.
It looks as if there will be 3 or 4 "standard" PBI games.
That should make for a good day of gaming.
I can lend you a Russian army if that helps you Miles.
I have listed my German force already for all to see.
martin :)
PS. Off to cast some bergepanthers. Thanks Sean and Simon.
Sorry I can't join this one - just before exams start.
I plan to resurface around the end of June.
Simon.
Good news for me the Villa game has been pushed back until 1730 hours so I can attend most of the day, if OK with you. I can double up on the second game as I will need to leave before the game concludes. I can leave my figures if needed and pick them up from Stewart or Martin later.

Some phrases for the German players.
1. Ich muss nach Hause I need to get home
2.Hast du Würstchen mitgebracht? Did you bring any sausages?
3.Sind das russische Panzer Are those Russian tanks?
4. Wenn wir diesen Kampf gewinnen, wird alles gut If we can just win this battle we will be OK.
Some ideas for theme setting.
These would be scatter, rather than fighting pieces.
Volunteers?
Some graffiti slogans for the games.
Russian flags that can be placed on captured objectives?
A German propaganda truck would be good.
Russian tracked howitzers.
Surrendering Germans.
Other ideas.
Dead German tanks, 88mm etc as partials.
martin :)
Is it too late to say 15?
I am coming on the 10th and have added my Germans to the list.

Please bring your buildings and a table set up as we need 3?
There is a max 6 building templets per game but we could change woods to buildings as its Berlin centre and they have the same effect with in the rules
Stewart
Mike you have it correct. Good guess.
That sounds like a good compromise Stewart.
There were many wooded and country type areas on the edges of Berlin.

I was going to do that put in some wooded areas, as I know Berlin especially has them ?
Do actually do my homework - Stewart.
I have been there 1982, I was only 16 but wow opened my eyes up to the real Cold War.we had to travel in by train. The Berliner ? A daily military train with armed guards. Wow what an experience that was. I am glad I experienced it !it was a restricted visit but as an Air Cadet and just recently left school, I didn't really care. This was life and real. I fill slightly privileged to have actually done it ? At that time. As we have all learned since the early to mid 80s the Balloon really could've gone up on more than a few occasions?
The summer of 1982 was a busy period for me. I saw a lot of sights and sounds with all 3 services, even going on board 2 Royal Navy ships that had been to the Falklands. Including one that was bombed. But i am going somewhere else with this. Sorry.
Remember I ve learned a lot not to bog down a table with too many buildings etc, enough to make the point ? But not to restrict, also a quick game where possible?
Look at Monte Cassino that could have been end to end buildings ? But not really a good game ?

I'm not sure if I have mentioned this before, there are two sheets of Berlin signs on the Rapid Fire! "Free downloads" page:
https://www.rapid-fire-uk.com/free-downloads/
These are a fairly recent addition to the website and prove useful.
Best wishes, Martin, from a village near Grimsby
Excellent information Martin
These will be ideal.
Kind of the makers to make them free too.
martin :)
There is space for a table number 4 if more players wanted to join in.
martin :)
As May 10th is a VE day celebration, what other events are on in gaming or military parades?
martin :)
I shall be in Guernsey for their annual Liberation Day 80th anniversary on 9th May. There will be various celebrations throughout the island including a military parade through St Peter Port.
John
As guidance for all players please use the following army lists
GERMAN
inf company 1944-45 page 68
Volksturm company 1944-45 page 69
RUSSIAN
infantry company 1944-45 page 102
Reconnaissance company (scouts)page 103
Stewart
That is a good idea Stewart.
Russian SMGs
The Russians with SMGs are going to be a challenge for the Germans.
The Germans can set up open spaces that the SMGs will have difficulty crossing. SMGs only have proximity range. Pin them down at range. The Germans could use pairs of rifle bases just to use up the Russian movement. The Russians would need to stop and clear such squares. This takes valuable game time.
Germans
Consider using AA to combat the Russian infantry. The problem, is that having AA precludes tanks and armoured cars.
Use PAK 40s and the "surprise" asset to allow the guns to move about and shoot tanks etc.
A pair of armoured cars is a cheap option that will hurt infantry. No additional tanks though.
Make sure you buy the panzershrecke as it has a two square range and can kill tanks.
Your thoughts to add to this?
martin :)

I have been busy today working on my Volksturm.
I painted up 3 x Pak 40. I intend to put up some photos of them as they will be surprising the Russians.
By keeping to 340 points there is less to paint.
martin :)
Excellent day at Entoyment
Thanks to all attendees
Especially to Colin who did all the work on the Reichstag model

Sorry I wasn't able to join you this time.
Simon
Great day. Thanks to all that arranged it and participated. We lacked Russian players ?
Won one and Lost one. Beat the Russians with some great dice rolls? 8 hits firing into a load of them ! Lost against German Raw with not so good dice rolls !
Went with a building heavy table, 6 buildings, 4 woods and a hill and rough ground.
Used 2 under strength Veteran SS German platoons and a mixed Support unit with 2 Average Panthers. Even though I had Panzerfauts never used one ? Chris kept his Russians out the way mainly! Martin didnt have any tanks ! I couldn't get near to his objectives !
