As on previous SB Days the plan is all the mats & scenery will be provided for each and every table. This allows pre-organisation to take into account the actual range of armies in use on the day, to be fair to all players. It also facilitates easy re-allocation of players to tables in the second round. Of course we could make one of the tables Mexico with the full range of related scenery for you to choose from and also ensure that you get to play at least one game on that table
That would help.
My proposed Mexican revolutionary army is all cavalry, plus a few guns/MGs.
martin :)
The link is live so my order is now placed!
Ray
I have entered and it maybe the Austrian again.
Bob
I know I'm late to the party this year, but have finally managed to negotiate a day away from exam revision.
Is it too late for me to join in?
Simon
Ah Simon. We won't be renewing our bitter rivalry across the table. My god daughters 21st birthday party is the same day and for some odd reason it starts at 12pm.
Enjoy the day.
(When I first typed the above it came up as our butter rivalry. That conjurs a few images!)
I look forward to lobbing dairy products at you this time next year, Sean ;D
Simon
It would be great to have you along Simon.
You can always double up with my Mexican freedom fighters army?
martin :)
Thanks Martin.
I was planning on bringing my all-conquering (?) British Mid-War Western Front 1915-17.
Maybe we combine: Mexicans + tanks? ;)
Simon
Anybody else able to join us, please?
We're ideally looking for one more player to balance the numbers.
"Pigsticker" Ray and friends can kindly loan an army, as necessary.
Simon
It might mean Simon C has to play!
As long as I don't have to play the one that lost me a load of points last year ?
By quitting the game halfway thru ? And rendering my point total Invalid ? Which was highly unfair, as I was still playing, was trying to help him play and was winning ! Anyway ?
Plus I ve bought both versions of the rule book ! Also I ve even read them several times? Which is more than my opponent had done !
Yes I will be a 2 player If i need to ?
Miles
Would love to attend but don't fancy driving all the way to Daventry for one day's gaming. If it were a weekend event I'd consider it. Good luck chaps.
John
If you really want to go ? I can pick you up on the way John ?
I come thru the Forest on the way to Soton.
Miles
Thanks for the offer Miles, but I am doing something else now, so I am not free.
John
A question for the organisers: are we allowing any tolerance on army points (potentially with a risk of losing bases or a VP penalty), or do we have to stick precisely to 620 points or fewer?
Simon
What we use in PBI and Ak is a points overspend of up to 6.
If the opponent rolls less than the overspend on a D6 then a base is removed from a unit.
martin :)

All good now as I have found us a 10th player. Chris Peers will join us. I will lend him a 1915 German army army to play Simon P's British. Chris has sat in on a couple of games at Burton last year but has not played before. I trust Simon will guide him the morning & hopefully stay with Chris in the afternoon. Now that is sorted I will email the R&R out to all the players later today.

Dear Miles, that will certainly not happen this year. The person concerned is unlikely to play SB again & certainly not at one of our SB day events. Thank you for sticking with it and let's look forward to some relaxed fun 1915 themed games.

We usually stick to a maximum of 620pt. I know that it can be annoying when the odd few points do not quite fit but in my experience once you allow an over-point lee-way it can get a little out of hand. Perhaps something we can all discuss on Saturday. If we feel it necessary, I can suggest a system that is used in other periods by the Oxford club. Ray

That sounds like a good idea to consider for next year.

Unfortunately, Simon C cannot attend this year, even just to play.
Is that the Chris Peers who wrote the Rorke's Drift book I just gave to Martin? If it is then Martin can get it autographed and ask him the questions he asked me about Lord Chelmsford.
John
Yes, Chris is an author of many other books, including most of the Osprey MAAs on Chinese armies.

Thanks for all your efforts in finding the elusive 10th man, Ray.
I'd be delighted to meet such an illustrious hobby figure and to help him through the rules.
However, it might well be better to mix up opponents in the afternoon session?

John I did offer you a lift up there ? You could have met up with him yourself!
Miles
True Miles. I have other things on though.
John
Don't worry chaps I will be there with my hugely beautiful biggest/best army ever, painted in beautiful beautiful gold, which I invented, and encrusted with the best sequins ever seen.
martin :)
Martin, if Simon P can help Chris Peers through the rules in the morning whilst your rebels fight of those Mexican Feds, are you OK playing Chris Peers in the afternoon game?
Great idea Ray.
martin :)
Martin, thank you. Ray

John, if we made it a two-day / four-game event would that make it more viable for you? I can discuss this with the other players this weekend. Ray
Yes it would, but don't think about changing it for my benefit. If it was something you were already contemplating then I would be likely to support it. However others may think differently. Added cost etc.
