This must be the RFCM ruleset with the most varied scenery!

Inspiring stuff!
Purely a personal opinion but I've always believed that wargames in public view were, at least in part, to promote the hobby as being "serious" and more than just grown-ups playing with toys. Doesn't Sci-Fi set you off on the back foot?

I think in a world dominated by Marvel and computer games that probably isn't so much of an issue as it might have been back in the seventies. Individuals who will sneer at wargaming are, in my experience, not going to distinguish between a Space Elf and a British Grenadier
In any case; really nice terrain
Here are the folk we are not catering for.
People who do not have the word "interested" in their life outlook. Such people are very busy doing their day to day tasks. It takes all their time and energy. They are happy and that is OK.
Those who come across to our stand and games at shows to express their disinterest in 15mm wargaming. Upon being asked about their own gaming they often say that they are building up to playing a game one day, but not soon.
One gamer came to our trade stand a couple of years ago to inform us that he was going to stop miniature gaming. He had never bought anything from us.
These types are not the target for our gaming group. They are the target for alpha gamers who need seat sitters.
Our public games are for potential players who enjoy games and social stimulation. We do not cater for any others. Those others can just happily carry on with their lives without needing to wonder about doing anything miniature wargame related. Not a problem.
They can also drone on about their experience of a minor command in a big game set up with no decisions needed, organised and run by an alpha player. Horrible.
I was informed some years ago by a gamer, that his friend had written a much superior set of SCW rules to those offered by Peter Pig. This difference was due to the fact that his friend was a "serious" wargamer. After 9 years those "serious" rules have still not appeared, but soon?
Sigh.
