Does the new AK use the assets system ? Only asking as I'm a massive fan . Cheers Alex

Hello Alex

No assets in AK PE.
There are battle tokens created by the pre game scenario though.

Also a really great new mechanism called 'Communications' which sort of does the same job as assets in that you can get airstrikes, reinforcements, bring back bases that have ran away and get rid of dead bodies...that kind of thing!

It's a new mechanism and one of the many great new aspects of the rules.

I like this part to, it's the bit that makes this particularly different, for modern warfare a very good way of obtaining these useful items ?

Yes, the new "Communications" part of each turn is a lot of fun.

Thanks for enjoying the communication mechanism.

It is however proving to be a difficult concept for many players.
The major difficulty is "why don't I just use the maximum each time?"

I will do a bunch of videos for AK.

We are finding people go thr maximum or none at all.

Also, some players (me included) get carried away and say I want HE, rather than the number.

Another one is some players think you have to split your Comms points over both rolls and not that you get all of your points available for both rolls.

The residual 1 does come up now and again in discussions.

Quick one on the residual "1" I was disappointed that Martin dropped it, but I also understand why he dropped it.
So my line would be for a normal game play the rules as is !
But there might be specific games, scenarios that certain things come into play ? Including having residual 1 s on assets ?
I am thinking of suggesting that the overall CC in Berlin could have access to more assets ? According to availability? Maybe include just residual "1" ???
It is only a thought? It would have to be managed properly I think ?

It is, unfortunate the Communication bit of AK and PBI Assets have got mixed up.
I would dare to say the same thing but presented in a better way especially for a post WW2 game system?
But with a random element that makes it plausible and very playable!
Unfortunately it does seem some people don't quite know how to properly use the Zero up to the maximum of their communication number to set the "Base" number ?
Then throw your Dice to try and achieve your "target" number ?
Obviously if you want the higher numbers a lot you need a good communication number like a 5 or 6 then you also need to Roll 4,5,6 to then archive this goal ?
But that's the beauty of this system by saying Zero or 1 or even2 plus your die roll can achieve the lower ranks with their own benefits to re supply your army!
It's very clever without being over powering but both ends of the table can have a great effects on the game.
