Title: Sean's Games in 2025
Post by: Sean Clark on February 06, 2025, 06:16:07 PM
I'll use this to log all of the games played  of whatever stripe, here. I'm aiming for 30 games. I've no idea if that's a low number or a bit optimistic.  Which is why I'm going to log the games!

I've been involved in 3 so far this year. 2 games of PBI 2025 amd 1 game of AK47. 1 of the games of PBI I was the umpire for. I won the other game using my late war Germans and lost the AK47 game where we played Stewarts Wild Geese scenario.

We're  playing AK again tomorrow night in a 2 v 2 game. Then I'm at Beachhead on Sunday where I might get a game in.

From here on out I'll post at least 1 picture of each game.

Game Totals
PBI 2
AK47 3
PITS 1

Looking forward to you pictures and posts.

I'm lucky having PPHQ on my door step and two active clubs that meet monthly and I organise a monthly meeting at Entoyment hobby centre so normally get at least 10 games a month

Really close game of AK last night. Me and Keith as Religious movement v Kev and Neil as People's Popular Front.

The Religious Movement attacked with 2 regular, 1 militia, an extra unit of regular and two units of Technicals. The PPF had 2 regular and 1 militia, plus A/C's, Technicals, mortars, MGs, trucks and a bodyguard. They defended.

Scenery was interesting. 4 solid buildings  only 2 jungle and a lot of hills.

At one point things looked terrible for the attackers, losing 2 regular units in successive turns. The ACs and Technical MGs made short work of thr infantry. But our militia won the battle in the solid buildings against the rival militia and held a good portion of the scenery on their flank. We also got reinforcements on towards the end of the game who ast in some jungle on the enemy baseline.

But, when the numbers were added up  it was 30 to the defenders and 25 to the attackers. I think I've played 14 games of AK47 now and lost them all 😅 Despite this I thoroughly enjoyed the game.

A quick record of the game from Beachhead. It was a full game, so I'm happy to record it. Also my first win as mentioned elsewhere.

Setting fire to the solid buildings really helped!

The game you photographed succeeds.

1. Looks good.
2. Both armies had a chance to win.
3. I assume all players had a say in the scenario, scenery and manoeuvre.
4. The game got completed  in the available time.
5. Some dice fun was had(I hope).

I feel that many games can only achieve 1 or 2 of those criteria. Five a day/game is good for gamers.

I'm not sure how long our game lasted Martin, but it can't have been much more than an hour.

To fit all your points into a game that gave a definite conclusion and was full of incident, is some achievement.

I took Patrols in the Sudan to the club last night. The usual gang of me Kev, Keith and Neil put our sandals on and collected our beach towels for a trip to the desert.

As usual, we didn't quite get finished, mainly as I needed an early night, as its now 3.34am and I'm sitting outside Avas school having dropped her off for her ski trip.

The Dervish have struggled so far getting to grips with the British who have made good use of volley fire and pushed on to their objective of scouting out the enemy village. Its a there and back again patrol, but the Dervish who started with 4 units are down to two and a half left. One unit was shot up and routed  the other has lost most of its bases but got them back with a card only to be reduced down to 4 bases again by disciplined British fire.

They've yet to manage a single assault due to some very poor dice rolling. We'll finish next week, when hopefully they'll get at least one fight before the end of the game.

Thanks for putting this up Sean.
I like playing PITS. It is enjoyable being the Dervish or British, which is good.

These asymmetric RFCM games (also Pirates, Vietnam...) are particularly good fun.

After playing Conquerors and Kings at the weekend down at Entoyment Wargaming and Hobby Centre,  I was eager for another game so invited Ade over for a game.

I have Early Imperial Romans and Ancient Germans painted specifically for C&K so we used them. I do intend to use figures based for DBx in the future too, but for now it was a classic Teutoberg Wald punch up.

It was Adès first game so I did the decent thing and won handsomely. I think given a bit more knowledge of how to tip combats in your favour, Ade will be fully up to speed and giving me a good hiding.

I reckon we played for around two and a half hours. 30 minutes was the pregame shenanigans. After a couple of turns Ade was well into the swing of things. A couple of crucial fights going my way helped massively. Ade struggled to take a hill my Germans held and then got stuck in a German village from which he couldn't co-ordinate any further attacks.

Not quite the massacre suffered in the German forests, but I suspect the surviving Roman general will be sent to the gladiatorial arena to see out his days.

Your Germans are getting battle experience.
Glad you had a good game. I do enjoy ancients, partially due to the variety of armies.
There are certainly tactics to help laters win CK. Hopefully these tactics bear resemblance to historical tactics.  Support, quality, armour and decision.
Germans are a tough army to win with. They lack bows and armour.

Quantity does have a quality all of its own though! 11 close order units against the Romans 7.

Another game in my knockout series.

Colonial Settlers (MM version) attacking People's Popular Front.

A big win for the Colonial army (25pts to 9) even though they failed all game to get their third unit on the table. 11 turns. Although lots of killing, the Damned Militia kept units alive and reduce actual casualties. The Colonial tanks and professional unit were stars of the show.

Wonderful game. Really enjoying this. Playing at the club with Kev and the boys on Friday which I'm really looking forward to.

A game at the club. Me and Keith were the People's Popular Front defending against a Warlord Uprising attacking played by Kev S and Neil.

A small win for the defender, 19 points to 11. A short game of only 8 turns. As defenders we manged to get a great position of the scenry using a lot of jungle and having a road deviate along the attackers base edge row.

No units were destroyed, as both sides used damned militia to keep units alive. No tanks. The Warlord sensibly took 3 units of technicals but didn't get to use the 'resurrection' rule for them. No assaults! So a slightly unusual game but we all enjoyed it. We think Keith is unbeaten in AK47PE!

Another nice-looking game - scenery and figures, Sean.

Keep up the good playtesting work!
