Title: Sean's 2025 painting thread
Post by: Sean Clark on February 02, 2025, 09:51:38 PM
I'll start this thread a little late, but to record all of my 2025 painting.

These were technically painted last year but based today so I'll count them! They are the figures for the Train Wreckers Gamette. Germans, Gendarms and Resistance. Lovely figures as always.

I've posted my US Cavalry elsewhere, but here they are just minus the flock. I'll count them tomorrow and keep a running total going, adding on  figures I've already finished.

Hi Sean,
Well done and it's nice to see the train wreckers figures painted.

Best wishes,
Martin, from a village near Grimsby

No Rob Royston, died a few years back, his life cut very short. Was a big part of any show, and game demonstrations, like Martin had a very authoritarian way that made you listen, but in a sweet way too;very good at running demo games, allowing Martin time to speak to customers!
Also responsible for the victory point bit in original AK 47, "if your name is Rob ! 1 point".
Hopefully that will reappear in AK47 PE.
Also represented in the Collectable Figures.

I was putting some figures away the other day and realised I'm at around 98.56% capacity for storage.

How come, I thought to myself?

Well, when I sat down and counted, I have 57 different armies, factions, warbands, navies...whatever you wish to call them; all Peter Pig figures/models. They span every set of RFCM rules apart from The Company Rules.

The smallest is probably my veteran Australians for Vietnam. The largest I think is either my ACW Rebs or Union armies. The most armies for one rule set would be 8 for Squarebashing.

This doesn't include my gamette figures, figures from other manufacturers (mostly 28mm fantasy and sci fi) or indeed the buildings, trees, hills and assorted scenery bits.

This is why I'm close to capacity.

Though...I'm sure there's room in the loft still!

You dont have too many figures. Just too small a house!

Try selling something (maybe family members) to make more space.............simples.

I had the same problem Sean so I sold all my LOTR figure (about 1500) on line and a lot of GW stuff and other bits at Entoyment B&B

Then when I was moving boxes around for the Weymouth weekend found more stuff to sell (not PP)

Looking at the PP rule sets, I have 61 armies/ forces of various sizes.

Wife will have a big party and holiday when I go on to the never ending game,
Hopefully not for a few years yet

Tabletop sakes like at Entoyment are a great way to off load all of the unused and unloved figures/projects.

I have plenty of stuff to move on.

Only problem I have with that is seller's regret. Wishing now I'd never sold my 15mm Laserburn Saurians and lizard riders... they are going for astronomical amounts by Alternative Armies - what justifies such prices I wonder? Also my 15mm Metal Magic Pruzz and Lithuanians des. by Josef Ochmann...

Sometimes, just spending an afternoon sticking figures to bases is all you need to relax and pass the time.

After my early start dropping Ava at school at 3am, this was all I felt like doing but it was a very pleasant afternoon.

The majority of what you see here are for a Townsfolk or Settlers army for Western. This will be my fourth army for the Western rules. Just Mexicans to go. With what I have, I can proxy just about every other army in the book.

There is also a couple ECW generals, a couple of ACW generals, some bison, long horn cattle and the hangman's tree.

Off camera are my first two packs of SciFi figures.

Variety, as they say, keeps things spicy!

It's bristles from a broom Martin.

Oddly as I was finishing off drybrushing the bases, it occurred to me I should have done some spare ones to account for losing a few  ::)

I'll do another 6 to allow for attrition.

Some more nits finished.

Inspired by Stewarts Wild Geese scenario for the new AK, I've painted these mercenary commanders.

(https://i.postimg.cc/YvXNrmwQ/20250507-094753.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/YvXNrmwQ)

The rest are for my English Civil War collection. A new style of dragoon base, with mounted figures added.

(https://i.postimg.cc/v1JVTr2x/20250507-094724.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/v1JVTr2x)

A group of clubmen. I painted these ages ago but only just finished the basing. I'm sure I've another unit somewhere...

(https://i.postimg.cc/c6mB9z5D/20250507-094735.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/c6mB9z5D)

Finally I've finished some more of the named ECW generals. The plan is to complete the collection.

I bought this Italian PBI army at the beginning  of the year hoping to attend the PBI desert day. Unfortunately that didn't work out, but I've now prepped them ready for painting.

I probably need a special order of AT rifles to bolster the platoons.

Aerial (singular) would be better if none at all - early production M13/40 often lacked radios.....

Here is a view of my current painting table.

I've had the Hessian Grenadier figures for a while, having already painted a couple of units. I do like to collect all of the figures for the scenarios in the various RFCM rule sets. Call it a proclivity of mine. For the Freeman's Farm scenario in Washingtons Army, I need 3 units of Hessians, so these will be my 3rd unit.

A much more recent addition to my unpainted pile are these Civil Guard for the SCW. This was my test base which I was pleased with so it'll be full steam ahead to get these done. They will be my fifth force for Bayonets and Ideallogy. I would still like a Carlist army and a Falangist army using the figures in shirtsleeves.

I know Confederates wore blue trousers to a certain extent early in the war (and officially a bit darker and richer than the Union trousers), but eventually they shied away from them for fear of friendly fire. It is nice to see this base of chaps with no blue trousers in sight.

The image of the ragged rebel is something that has been dispelled over the years. The south certainly had supply issues early in the war. Some states had an over abundance of cloth, but refused to supply it to other states other than their own.

Towards the end of the war, there were reports that units were clothed fairly well as the trade lanes managed to get supply going from abroad again and that cloth got through to frontline units.

I can try! I've repurposed the off cut of a Geek Villain mat that I cut down for another RFCM game which is the perfect size for the gamette. A couple of trees and a bit of Civil War era fencing make it a nice looking little game.

I've painted a few more General figures for my AK47 collection.

I now have enough so each army in the book has a dedicated General base. Needed? No. But when does that ever stop as doing something?

I also found some prone professional looking troops with which I've added a whole unit, including a leader, not pictured here.

Finally, amongst the images below you'll see a base I call 'The Interrogation'. President Dr Chumbawumba has been caught making off with the silver and no has some questions to answer 😀
