I have a few spare late WW1 French infantry figs. I am considering using them for 1940 reservists. Can anyone allay my paranoia and let me know that at 15mm the uniforms are pretty much right.
Learn to let go. They're your figures. You're in the hobby to play and enjoy yourself. What others think is unimportant and worrying about it is a severe waste of mental energy.
And it would make a whole lot of sense for Reservists to be using kit (both weapons and uniform) from the previous war, taken out of storage.
Private Frazer had a Lewis gun in Dad's Army, when it was otherwise largely obsolete?
I think you'd quite easily get away with using French late war figures as WW2 reservists.

I asked my new best friend CoPilot, which answered: "Did any French reservists in 1940 wear 1918 uniforms?"
With:
"Yes, some French reservists in 1940 did wear uniforms from 1918. Due to shortages and logistical challenges, many soldiers were issued older uniforms and equipment. The silhouette of the typical French infantryman in 1940 did not differ greatly from his 1918 predecessor. This included the heavy woollen Model 38 greatcoat over the woollen tunic (vareuse), and the M26 Adrian Helmet, which was a standard issue".
