Title: Fire
Post by: martin goddard on January 07, 2025, 04:10:36 PM
Fire as in flames.
Fire is present in AK as a random event.
It is also present in MOCB after a village is searched.
HI has fire and a marker is made for that purpose.

Is smoke enough to  insinuate a fire?
Fire tends to cover an object/building. Should it smother the model building?

How do you depict fire.
I have used tall black smoke columns in the past to catch the eye.

Your thoughts

I have quite a bit of this wooly stuff which is perfect for fires. I got them when I painted some Warlord figures for a friend.

I think Litko produce some translucent orangey fire markers made out of plastic which are nice. Not sure on the price though.

I have some of those from Litko - very effective. Sold on this page by Pendraken-

Products for Wargamers also sells these type of things-

Sorry chaps, but I really don't like those Litko acrylic tokens!

I do use Warbase ones for "text" markers (taking cover, winning the fight, etc) when they can lay flat, but somehow have an aversion to ones that stand up and are supposed to look like something (smoke, fire...).

Does that make me a grumpy old gamer?

I also use Litko, which I do like a lot. Horses for courses etc.

Quite right Miles. You could go full Too Fat Lardies and add:

Special Helicopter Insertion + Troop Extraction on to GOB.

But I'm afraid the church wouldn't approve of such crassness.
