Any interest in getting in 3D printed K2 ambulances. £5 each.
That seems cheap.
We could have one per player.
They are from lancer miniatures.
Extra victory points for anyone bringing a painted one

Ice Cold in Alex is set in 1942 which in the words of the British Official History "British fortunes reach their lowest ebb"; following the defeats at Gazala, the Cauldron and the fall of the "boxes", Tobruck held by the 2nd South African division fell without a fight (there were no orders to defend and many of the mines were removed for the Gazala line). A truly depressing read of story after story of military incompetence..

The Lancer K2 Ambulance (in 20mm at least) are very nice resin prints.

There will need to be some very stiff upper lips I think.

In the film (at Shepperton studios) they drank actual Carlsberg lager. After a few takes got a little tipsy.

1942, that means Grants and 6 pdrs. Bit too early for the Americans technically as they didn't get involved until November?
QRF do make the K2 but these days a lot of 3D prints are probably available as well ?

Later. But it would encourage folk to buy ambulances.

My Italians arrived today.

They must have forced marched their way from the workshop at the double! I only ordered it yesterday morning  ;D

I've got some sand basing paste from AK Interactive arrives tomorrow.

Whether I make the game day or not the plan is to have the army painted in time just in case.

I am using Italians.
I propose using 4 foot platoons and some AT guns.
Italians could be used under the "small force" rule as their patoons are very cheap. Pistol armed officers and no SMG.

Plus an ambulance (game winner?)

And a final shot (the second game of  the day always get less journalistic coverage, I find) of the 8th Army taking on Eric's DAK with somewhat foolhardy bravery in the face of better dice and better tactics - the Brits came a very poor second here:

It was a good day for gaming.
It was good to see all players knowing the rules pretty well.
The tables and companies looked really nice too.
All good.

I think PBI is not a game for first time wargamers, but is great for players who can  use tactics and have a plan.
