Went the day well?
martin :)
I forgot all about it :)
Simon
Warfare today was fine. It was fairly quiet, but busier than I expected. A good variety of traders. A bring and buy that wasn't like the first day of the Harrods sale. I didn't see any of the games so I cannot comment on them. Apparently Saturday was very busy.
John
We went Saturday, must admit we spent more time in the Cafe, it was good to meet up and chat to quite a few fellow War-gamers ! Matt and Gary were there too.
Even met and chatted to a few of the old SELWG crew.
Entoyment was up there and a few others.
Very expensive though. £12 to get in, £11 for burger and chips which was cold !
Looked impressive.
Dave and Ben had their Dieppe game there.
Miles
As Miles says Ben, Paddy, Thomas and I took our Dieppe game to Warfare on Saturday. The game was well received by visitors with a lot of interest generated by the PBI rules and the grid system on a large game.

Thanks for the information.
This show sounds like it has regained its greatness.
It has retained the "quiet Sunday" aspect too. I don't like that, but most obviously do.
The show looks nice and spacious.
This is a good trend of using race courses and show halls.
martin :)
That's a spectacular-looking game, again, Dave and Ben - well done!
Simon
Does look groovy.
martin :)
Thanks chaps.
The best thing was the boys really enjoyed the gaming, one of the comments we got from a lot of people was it was good to see three young chaps playing a historical game. Ben has grown up with it but Paddy and Thomas have just started to get into historical games, unfortunately another of Ben's mates Ed had to pull out at the last minute. Paddy and Thomas were really taken with the event and the gaming which was a real positive.

From a trader's perspective two day shows can be problematic. With a one day show the overheads are less (no overnight accommodation, subsistence etc) and the takings are usually almost as high as at a two day show. Most two day shows now seem to exist only to accommodate the competitions that are run in conjunction with the show. The other advantage of a one day show is that it allows the traders to attend a second show on a weekend, when the opportunity arises and that usually means that it will have a different catchment area and will probably boost takings.
John
I agree John.
My personal thoughts.
If they were cleverer they would copy Ilford's idea of Competition=2 days, trade show =1 day.
This was always a real pain as a trader, going back to 1985! Sunday morning was just standing about. 25% of the income was on the Sunday. I fear that the Bournemouth show will have the same problem? Dead Sundays.
I suspect most folk are in church/temple on Sunday?
martin :)
I suspect not.
I think Warfare is the last of the 2 day shows?
I used to travel down to it in days gone by but not been for a while.
Beachhead is a 2 day show, Sean.
