Post by: Smiley Miley 66 on September 15, 2024, 03:40:33 PM
As John W has highlighted, December is Battle of the Bulge time !
Does anyone fancy doing a PBI themed day at Entoyment on a Saturday in December?
Sorry Martin, I ve got British in White ? I know that's a surprise !
Also myself and Big Mike have components from the 2016 ? Big game !

Wow was looking at the German force 150 Pz Brigade. Wow how expensive to have a motorised company ? 12 base per company with transports. That's it ?

You probably want the half-tracked transport (which is more expensive, but comes with armour and an MG) as well as the option for the half-tracked 37mm gun for the platoon commander, Miles.

The OAB has listed 200 sailors
I guess they were to look after the Rum ration and build the bar

I hadn't even looked at the 37mm option, as how many US units have this ?
Obviously you don't know what 150 Pz Brigade is ? When it comes to Battle of the Bulge ?
Were you there at Dorchester 2016 ?
Then you should have an idea ?
They were Special vehicles done for the unit ?
Having a choice of 9 (various)H/Ts, 3 (German)Trucks, Ez M10s lookalikes and 3 Ez M7 lookalikes and a Captured Sherman.
But I ve as yet to do the troops ?

We now have 2 German disguised  forces.
Should make a good looking game
If there were a third one we could have the PBI day as US v US?   are they/are they not?

Only if I can either paint up some of my Americans by then ? Or borrow some American/germans.
It's a case to what one can afford and probably have to pay for US guns rather than German weapons ?
The Armoured cars I want to get ? Cap over the 2nd wheel of the 8 wheelers to make it look like a 6 wheeler.
Not too sure what the sdffz 250 do ? Whether they have the 20mm turrets or not ?
Rapid fire do a nice section on their battles and set up ?
Sounds like the force you would get with " Forged in Battle " set ? How much did you pay for that ?

Just working out a force using "Skorzseny Panzer Brigade 150"
What would be the penalty for 417 or 420 point force ? Please ?

Luckily this is a matter that we have added into the rules.

The rule is:-
You can overspend by 1,2,3,4,5 or 6 points.
The opponent rolls  a D6.
If he scores under the excess spend, the owner must lose a base of his own choice.

You will see that rule when I get round to publishing PBI.

If you are 17 or 20 points over just lose an MG42 Miles.
Then you are within the rules again.

Sorted.

I was just looking at possibilities, but dropping an MG42 would be difficult as the force is using American weapons ? So I would have to buy one to be able to drop it !
So the over spend is 6 points. I had forgotten what we had got it up to ?
Trying to get the balance of putting in as many vehicles as I can without have to actually make some more and just hopefully paint some figures up is difficult!
I ve had to point all the transportation as Lorries, but will have to use All Half tracks and call them all softskins. Otherwise I will either have to make 6 more trucks ?as I need 9 in total.
Or I can drop the trucks ? Decisions Decisions!
Trying to keep it "real" and reality of the points !
Could have Armoured cars but then I would have to buy and make some, then that would impact on my painting of new figures?
I will get there.
Many thanks
Miles

The 400 point total will constantly cause players to compromise.
However, the 400 works for most armies and gives marvellous games.
The overspend rules does allow more flexibility. Which is helpful.

A smaller force of 340 points is also possible if players wish to paint fewer models etc. Although probably more suited to raw armies.

I ve got 409. Too much still. 405 getting better. 401 spot on in reality?
Do I go 2 infantry platoons and a support platoon all mobile plus 2 tanks ?
Do I go 3 infantry platoons not mobile and 2 tanks ?
