Title: Film- Ungentlemanly warfare
Post by: martin goddard on August 05, 2024, 10:10:32 PM
The latest Tarantino film.

I thought it was pure fiction but not so.
Really good film, recommended.

The Damien Lewis book is good and concentrates on the special forces like the SAS, SBS and LRDG. Better still is Giles Milton's book "Churchill's Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare" which looks at the boffins and eccentrics who came up with some of the secret weapons used to defeat the Nazis. Read both: you won't be disappointed.

If it's anything as good as the SAS TV series I shall certainly give it a watch.

Not by Tarantino but Guy Ritchie innit!
When I saw it I thought it'd make a good AK scenario. The recreated harbour has a nice AK vibe to it.

I saw this film last week. I realise that it's fact-based, and found it very silly, very Guy Richie, and great fun.

A recommended piece of escapism.

I enjoyed it too. The plot is remarkably similar to the old 70s? film "The Sea Wolves" with Gregory peck, Roger Moore and David Niven.

regards,
Nick

'The Sea Wolves' was a retelling of another SOE Op called 'Operation Creek' in 1943.
