Title: AK started
Post by: martin goddard on June 14, 2024, 09:45:05 AM
PBI is still the top priority as it is being  proof read at the moment. Thanks to them.
Then there are the pictures etc.

However, AK is being hatched.
We did some work on it last night.
As expected, the first foray gives lots for us to work on.
This is quite normal when a  rule set starts.

Initial mechanisms are from  MOCB, FM, PBI, AK and SCW. This makes the rules recognisable.

Once the AK specific "clothes" are put on, players will see AK as distinct but RFCM.

The new mechanisms that need  work are the scenery values and communication end of turn mechanism.

Is this what's called Alpha testing before moving on to Beta testing?  :D

I have no idea what to call it.
Maybe "are you serious martin?".

My first 3 thoughts/restrictions are
1. making the new AK compatible with existing AK collections held by players.
2.making it distinct from it's parents
3. making sure PP makes all the necessary figures and models. I will use the original T55 models from the original 1997 version for the sake of posterity.

The first distributed version will be out quite soon.

Looking forward to this a lot. I agree that making sure existing based figures still work for the new rules. Some of us have a lot of AK armies I'm sure.

Me to. A chance to dust of that African countryside from those weird vehicles and even stranger characters in the army. Also dig out that pollution filled terrain.  Damm those multi-national corporations!.

The more playtesters the better.
I will get some initial work done as play testers will need a 60% completed game before they start.

Looking forward to AK but not until mid July please ?
Square Bashing then SCW to contend with.
But hopefully won't have to do too much to my forces for now to start playing ?

There won't be much happening in AK terms Miles, apart from the discussions and find games.
