Title: French Colonial figure review
Post by: Sean Clark on June 05, 2024, 06:27:23 PM

A quick look at pack 280 from range 16. I've bought these to use at Squarebashing day at the end of the month.

Slavery had long been banned by the French by the time the Senegalese Tirailleurs were formed in 1857. However, the initial intake did include slaves from West Africa, which the French bought, offering them their freedom as colonial soldiers. Initially the Senegalese were used to maintain order in the African colonies and did not serve in the Franco-Prussian War. Those Tirailleurs were known as Turcos and were recruited in the North African colonies, such as Algeria.

How come I missed these lovely sculpts?! They'd potentially do nicely for less modern equipped irregulars/border troops in my Malitanian army...

Neil, The PP ranges are full of little gems like this pack which can be used elsewhere.

Best wishes,
Martin from Grimsby
