At this point I am cutting out some small parts of the PBI to make the rules easier for players.
Those players who play a lot of games can easily absorb the rules. Many new players might be tripped up by minor rules that are not core to the game.
Here is what will go.
1. Re-roll of pursuit 2D6.
2.Delete half tracks with no MG. That leaves only 2 options. Half tracks with MG or soft skins no MG.
3.Roll for towed gun arrivals before choosing units. Guns can then still be chosen.
4. Remove "target out of arc" modifier to gun shooting.
5.Allow unit removal after morale ( helps ease decision delay).
Changes
One more level in winner/loser narrative.
Any thoughts?
martin :)
Thanks for sharing these emerging thoughts, Martin.
Removing re-roll of Pursuit D6 (#1) makes absolute sense - it's like rolling your shooting dice twice (and thus hardly cricket).
I've long been a proponent of removing the non-HMG halftrack (#2).
I can see that #3 (towed guns) speeds up decision making, but am not too bothered either way.
Not sure about "out of arc" - does that mean that assault guns and tanks with sponsons are effectively as good as turreted tanks? I think that would be quite a philosophical change for a WW2 setting and maybe a cut too far?
I'm not sure about #5 as it removes the morale-related "jeopardy" - this can be quite a crucial decision?
I'd be interested to hear what others think.

Hello Simon
Good day of PBI yesterday.
The out of arc was to allow assault guns and towed guns to shoot at targets that were not in their proper arc. The thinking being that assault guns and towed guns might turn a bit in response to enemy vehicle movement.
Taking "out of arc" away means that they cam ONLY shoot in their proper arc.
Number 5 does remove jeopardy but it is usually minor and applies to units of 5,4,3 bases.
There are only a few (9?) people playing PBI at the moment, so play testing still throws things up.
martin :)
Got it, thanks Martin.
And I (reluctantly - I like my StuGs) agree that it can in fact be too easy to use an Assault Gun as a tank, with only a relatively small out of arc modifier penalty for doing so.
All good!

Wait until you start on AK47 - you may be inundated with groups across the country (world?) wishing to participate? ;)
Simon
I do hope so Simon.
I am none the less looking forward to that project.
martin :)
1 and 2 I can understand.
3 I must admit I like using towed guns, and the ability to ring it on as a defender is good.
4 out of Arc is good as well, for guns towed or SP ? that are just out of arc is good unless it's an actually behind needing a movement order, then a slight change of direction is made up for in with a minus 1.
5 either remove the unit or take the consequences of rolling the 2 dice ?
Miles
Agreed Miles
We only have a bit of time to test it out, but all should be good (?)
martin :)
I am up for testing as much as I can. Circumstances allowing ?
Miles
Miles is always a stalwart of PBI days. Good work Miles.
martin :)
After my experience on Friday, I am more convinced than ever that PBI is a game that deserves wider attention. However, I am happy to support and promote it when and wherever possible. It's turning into a wonderful game.
And the previous editions were all great in my opinion.
Thanks Sean. A prophet is seldom recognized in his own country.

Generally lynched, I think? ;D
Simon
Those removals seem sensible.
The out of arc shooting is to me a welcome removal.
Thanks Nigel. You are a seasoned player, which counts for a lot.
