If suppressing barrage markers are diagonally adjacent may support be traced through the corner between the markers?

SU = Supporting Unit
SB = Suppressing Barrage Marker
AU = Attacking unit
DU = Defending Unit
Are the Supporting units able to count support for the Attacking unit through the Suppressing Barrage?

Mmm. Nit sure I've ever had this come up, but it's a great question!
I'm going to go with my gut instinct, backed up by nothing at all as I dont have my rules to hand.
Im going with no, you can't count support in this instance.
I suspect I'm wrong but it's how I see it!

The good thing is that all these little wrinkles are being recorded here, so should need little work in compiling into the lightly-polished SB reissue :)

Rules for shooting specifically forbid it (p 54 10th bullet). However, supporting squares have no such restriction. So, RAW it is allowed.
Whether it is desirable is another question!

Thanks for the responses. We played the RAW but thought it was not the right thing to do. Simple enough to resolve in the SB re-issue. We play a fair amount of SB games using 930 points. We have played a number of games using 1240 points on a 930 point table size. We have added a couple of tweaks but it tends to work well.

That's another one that sounds like playing a game to win rather than playing a wargame based on historical precedent. Surely the proximity of such a barrage would render support impractical. Common sense needs to prevail rather than gamesmanship. Yet another reason I am happier these days to play solo.
