We wanted to check on how Elephants are treated when their zone attacks terrain the Elephants can't enter?
The rules say they can't followup, but do they still contribute their 2 dice plus shock to the melee?
This can make a big difference to Pike/Elephant zones attacking terrain as the Pikes are already down to 1dice each so the Elephants contribution is critical, but it seems illogical to let them contribute vs troops they can't reach!
Hello Graham
Yes, they can contribute to the fight. It is assumed that the fight takes place at the front third of the scenery . ie into but not completely.
It is also assumed that the target units have decided they do want to fight too.
Hope this works for you.
The elephants cannot go totally in and pursue across.
martin :)
It seems strange that they get full effect, given other units like Cavalry or Like which can't fully function in reorganizing terrain get reduced effect.
Could treat them like Cavalry ie base of 1d6 plus shock?
Or
As "Late" as they are not fully effective/involved.
I have assumed that elephants do not need to keep unit order as much as normal formed units.
Some of their effect is "scariness" too.
