Title: Next Gamette SOL
Post by: martin goddard on February 14, 2024, 12:33:21 PM
The next gamette is South of Law (SOL).
I will send it to anyone who is interested. Please  let me know here or to my e mail that you are willing to help out.

Thanks

I have abandoned the "spot" idea because I think players might find it difficult to work out ranges.

10 x6 table.

Players will need:-
1. 2 or 3 figures, maybe some half square cover.
2. A couple of dead figures.
3. 6D6
4. Markers to show a figure is wounded.
5. Markers to show figures aiming.

I hope this will be fun.

It's a good start!

Are we going to include some buildings or other scenery to hide behind?

I want to keep it very low budget, but buildings along the sides/flanks would look great.

Looks OK to me on first read. Is the cover up to 2 pieces per player, so 4 in all? How many squares does the cover take up?

Players can spend 50 points and get 4 cover pieces. The cover pieces are deployed 3D6 in by counting  snakes and ladder style.
The cover is more street furniture than buildings.

To keep costs down  maybe a style of those paper buildings you did for Mexico could be done. Time intensive I know, unless someone else is good at drawing?

For those more committed then the resin buildings could be subbed in.

Players can put buildings along ten table edge. It would look good BUT will make it more difficult for players to get their hands in.
Maybe buildings along just one edge might be easier?
I will make some cover pieces out of barrels , water trough and crates from the PP ranges.

If the rules work OK it could be set in any open space such as a mine entrance, craggy pass (high Sierra?) woodland clearing etc?

I expect the rules to change a lot in the first few weeks as is normal with rules.

First change will be to define the square size.  One inch per square I think?
