Was going to set up a game of the CSS Arkansas and supporting ships going down the Yazoo toward the Union Fleet.
I do have a basic list of ships to use.
But if anyone has any suggestions please say ?
As I was going to use this little river battle as the Friday night game at WWW this year ?
Also want to adapt this little "battle" as an possible scenario for PP to use in there list of Quick games ?

Sounds great.
You may need to create a specific set of victory points to match the game Miles?
martin :)
Possibly, but I think the rules for now will cover the game, as the Arkansas target was the supply ships which the 4 ships provide a good target etc.
The only thing I might have to introduce is the when and how the Union ships appear ?

I can give you some input... give me a bit. Historically the CSS Arkansas ran into the Union raiding party of three ships sent up the Yazoo to destroy her as she was being built.
I got that bit, as that is well documented.
"A Union squadron consisting of the river ironclad Carondelet, the wooden gunboat ("timberclad") Tyler, and the ram Queen of the West was dispatched"
I was just wondering if there might be other ships from either side involved?
Benton and Essex I think are on this list ?
Just wondering if I can put some more Confederate ships ? Including any that might have "what if"?
As I was going to run it as a normal game.

I think if you keep it very very very simple you can then play it many times. If you make it more complicated the game might drag on after it is clear the mission has failed eg Arkansas sinks?
An idea that seems simple can become 3 x worse that simplicity when put into action.
It is your game though Miles feel free to ignore.
martin :)
I am trying to create two things here. Mainly an enjoyable game for the WWW Friday night as per rules with up to 6 ships each, the fort and usual objectives.
But also a downloadable Scenario involving the Arkansas and some Union ships.
I think the Arkansas and maybe a "tender" up against Ironclad Carondelet, wooden boat Tyler and Ram Queen of the West. Will have to try that out ?

What is WWW - all I can think of when I see that is the World Wildlife charity?
Andy, it's the annual Weymouth Wargames Weekend, when Stewart herds a bunch of us into a hotel for a full weekend's RFCM gaming.

Weymouth Wargames Weekender. WWW.
10 or 11 th this year ?

I suppose having lived a couple of hundred miles from Weymouth when I was in the UK (with very limited funds at the time) and now living in a different country is probably why it has always flown below my radar.
