This small paperback features the main battles from the 2nd Punic war (Hannibal).
Each battle is wonderfully portrayed using Airfix figures.
Each battle has a nice summary and battle layout too.
I have found it very good for an overall look at the battles.
Does anyone else here own it?
I ask because I think many people would enjoy reading and owning it.
Is it available at a cheap reprint price? I have seen £30 which seems too much.
martin :)
ABE Books has only one copy, very battered, at £17.82 plus about £36 postage from the US. This must be quite rare. Given its age and that the publishers are no longer in business it may be out of copyright, which might make it easier to reprint or upload.

If there is no copyright I would happily scan it and give to members here.
I suspect that there is a copyright somewhere?
I might put up a single battle here for RFCM members to "review".
martin ???
Used to own it, along with his Roman Civil War title.
They all now command silly prices for what is a dated publication; it's that nostalgia thing in play again.
As to copyright, while the publishers are long gone and Terry Wise deceased, it's still under copyright for him and his estate until 70 years after his death.
While it's unlikely to be enforced (it is after all a book on wargaming not a bestseller), the prudent thing to do would be to contact his surviving next of kin, not an easy thing to do without lots of work.

I would like to read the Roman Civil War one.
I will scan a page and put it up here for discussion.
martin :)
Maybe get John Curry to republish it.
That would be a really good idea.
martin :)
Is one of the ' Battles for Wargamers' series of books published by Bellona? I'd be interested in his take on Ilipa (If it's in the book) as this battle is next years Society of Ancients Battle day bash, I'd be up for taking C&K along.
I've got 5 of Terence's books. Better put them in the valuable pile, not to shove down to Oxfam. Looking at his Roman Civil Wars 49-45 BC I do wonder how they finished a game with all those individually based figures!

Hello Martyn
Yes Illipa is on the book.
I can put that one up for our discussion purposes.
Terry wise tends to set the battles up and just do that initial picture.
If you can use CK that would be brilliant.

Thanks Neil
I have made a good offer for it.
martin :)
They wanted £15. I bid £11. No deal.
I can live without it, which is an ideal buyer's position.
There might be more out there?
martin :)

ABE Books might be worth a look?
Neil
Anyhow Martin if you scan and put Illipa up I'll scan and put Pharsalus up from the civil war book....but then again is there a files section on this message board?
Martyn S
Martyn,
There is no files section. The general preference is to host photos etc. elsewhere and provide links here. This reduces server requirements and thus running costs for Simon C.
The odd scan should be fine.
Simon
I will do that.
martin :)
