Title: Visit to the National Arboretum
Post by: martin goddard on October 17, 2023, 08:48:14 AM
We went to the national Arboretum on Sunday 15th October.
The park was very  impressive.  Very well maintained, very comprehensive, very accessible too.
I recommend this . Be there early (10am).

Very nice, Martin.

That bit of railway track with the poppy wreath is particularly poignant.

That railway is 3 ft 6inch across, that was the standard Japanese gauge Apparently?
It is worth a visit, but take the "tour by train"  as it's a big place to try and walk around.

It's "Cape Gauge", used across the British Empire. And also in Japan at the time, as it was British engineers who helped them create their rail network. Which is why in Japan they drive cars and trains on the left-hand side, apparently.

I felt sure you'd know all this, Miles?  ;D

I forgot to put up my pictures for the day.
It has been a busy couple of weeks so my apologies.
