A nice warm day.
Two tables of SB.
All late war armies.
2 British armies , 1 French and 1 German.
It was great to play games in which all players knew the rules (mostly).
Barrages all over the place.
The pre game got done pretty quickly.
Saw about 10 things i would like to include in a newer version.
Problem is that once opened up it might consume effort needed elsewhere? it can wait a while.
The Entoyment shop was very busy. About 40 gamers..
martin :)
Would you consider putting out an 'ideas' post on here?
I think Square Bashing is possibly one of the most played games by those of us who can get to games days and therefore one those players are more familiar with. As it plays currently, it feels a close to perfect game. As the rules author I appreciate new ideas pop up for you, but just to let you know it's a really great game that never fails to please!
One glaring mistake I found yesterday. I had enough Germans to re take an Objective Square won the fight, but because the British couldn't retreat I couldn't gain my winnings then it was a game of attrition.
I think in real terms the forces would have run away either side and or surrendered. But in game terms I just got 3 extra hits which didn't archive anything for me ?
Yes for that game it wasn't an horrendous event, all it would have done was make it nearer a small win than a big win for Stewart. But that had been a closer game it would have been game changing!
The one time in the game I actually rolled some decent dice, for nothing ?
That's how it felt ! I supposed it summed up that game.

But other than that.
A very good day. 2 games with Martins LW Germans. First Game against Martin, Attacked Beat the French, loaded up more to the right and kept the pressure up. Won the day in the end! But very much hard fought no let up from either side.
Second game against Stewart has to defend. Stewart beat me to the Hill objective as he goes first. The other 3 objectives were loaded nicely with Hasty defences but isolated, as you have to have so much off table, which would have given me support Squares. But the attacker does need an majority at first to encourage him to attack !
Anyway 3 bad dice rolls and lost all of the objectives in one foul sweep. Yes I should have lost one definitely, but should have kept 2, but if the rolls go wrong then that's the game ! Good rolls first game, bad on the 2nd.
So Stewart got a large win as I couldn't re take any of the objectives!
Not for the lack of trying ?
Anyway thanks to Stewart and Martin and of course Entoyment for put the day on.

Yes, you need to be careful where you put a suppression barrage.
It can force the opponent to not retire because you have boxed him in with the suppression barrage.
I assume it was the barrage that you put down?
The next edition will have a fight re-roll mechanism I think.
There will not be any "mechanics" in the next edition because tanks cannot be repaired mid game ;) ..

Very good Martin ;)
