Title: Alternate names
Post by: Throner on August 22, 2023, 05:01:13 AM
I wonder does anyone have alternative ship name for the PP models FOR SALE on their web site

I know in the rule book there are alternatives listed ie: U.S.S  Osage coule also be used as U.S.S Neosho  BUT  PP does not sell that model so what I mean is.....

If I wanted the U.S.S  Casco  is there a model PP sells that looks like the Casco ??

but not just the Casco any  Lookalike 'models'

i hope you all get what i mean

Yes, you appear to be looking for information re ship classes - same silhouette, different name.

An example of this would be the USS Passaic which could also represent other boats in its class such as Camanche, Catskill, Conestoga, LeHigh, Montauk, Nahant and Nantucket.
The side wheeled paddle rams CSS General Sumter and CSS General Bragg could equally be used as other rams as the Confederates converted at least 14 river steamers into rams. These included Colonel Lovell, General Beauregard, General Earl Van adorn and General Stirling Price to name a few.
A good source is Tony Gibbons Warships and Naval Battles of the US Civil War.

Indeed a handy book if you can get hold of a copy. Mine is ex-Dutch library stock.
