Gamettes are used to test out new ideas. Also to modify previously used ones.
The self imposed condition is that D6 are the base choice for mechanisms.
Therefore there are going to be some new ideas in Riposte.
Partially to reduce the quantity of D6 rolled.
This does send us way back in play testing but that is fine (??)
martin :)
New ideas are always exciting.
Even if they don't ultimately work ;D

My thoughts exactly Simon

I have a few queries on Version 23:
- Page 3: The Scenario: there is presumably only one of the six scenarios (numbered 1 to 6) to be chosen, so how does each player rolling 6D6 lead to this selection?
- Page 6: Phrases: "Je suis mort" is probably more appropriate for "I am dead"?
- Page 9: I think that "le collapsus" is generally used in a medical context: "L'effondrement" is perhaps more appropriate for a tunnel / building collapse?
- Shooting: page 10 refers to guards needing 1 point to shoot, with one "shoot" (should be "shot"?) per guard. But a double 1 or 2 creates "a dead guard or a wound on the musketeer". Does this imply that musketeers can also shoot, for the cost of one movement point (which is what seems to be indicated on the play sheet)?
- if the musketeer can indeed shoot, is he also limited to one shot per turn?
- reference is made several times to "re-shuffling the two figures" after a fight. Given that the two fighting figures should be in the same section (clause 18, page 12), how does that happen?

Mmm... yes - very good questions, Simon :D

My thinking exactly Simon!
I'm so glad you think so too, Sean :D

I'm obviously missing something here, but am maybe not the only one. As I understand it, "Riposte" is a set of rules for a 3 Musketeers type skirmish. Only available via the Mill? There is likely to be a small, albeit limited, selection of figures appearing as part of the ECW range. When is all this due to happen? That's the sum of my knowledge. Can someone (Martin?) expand on this, please?
Bankinista
Bankinista,
There's a small group of us play-testing. Comments below relate to that.
Version 24 came out a few minutes ago - Martin reckons we're nearly there. And once he's corrected his French grammar, we may well be :)
Martin has separately posted that there will be a "standard" pack (within the ECW range) of 3 poses of Musketeer. He's hinted at a pack of dead too.
Simon
Thanks Colonel,
Will the rules be free via The Mill or will they be a mini-set for sale?
Bankinista
This is a gamette for The Mill. Just a bit of fun.
Simon
Play testing RIPOSTE is open to all. I have invited folk to join in on several occasions. If you are happy to help just drop me an e mail and I will include you with pleasure.

My attempt to do the new figures justice

Stewart
These are the first painted ones ever Stewart.
Would you want dead ones for visual and counting effect?
martin :)
Nice job, Stewart.
I'm also keen to see how contract paints would work on these sculpts, with all that surface area to play with.
I would think that dead figures would be useful - if only for the Riposte gamette. I would buy some. Not essential, but if all folk buy a pack that doubles the sales for Riposte :)
Simon
Sorry to resurrect this thread.
Just recieved my Musketeers- trés bon!
Reading the rules...how does the scenario bit work. The first version I read you just rolled 2D6.
Now it says both players roll 6D6 with a reroll but there's no explanation of what they're rolling for. I assuming from experience you compare successes and then the difference gives the scenario you play. But there's no explanation as far as I can see.
Hoping to play tomorrow!
You are correct Sean.
I will get a new version out.
martin :)
