Title: Riposte
Post by: martin goddard on May 31, 2023, 03:38:39 PM
Some updates.
I will get a new set out this week.
Guards scoring an odd number  can move and act.  Guards scoring an even number do nothing (Stewart).
Nearest guard always goes first then in distance order for ease of play.
Might change fight success to higher only (it did include "same as")?
A second musketeer?

Regardless of the gamette details, I suspect that the Musketeer  / Guard figures might prove popular in their own right, particularly if they are easy to do minor conversions for (e.g. bend arm; twist hand; attach sword in a slightly different direction).

I think they could be used, alongside other PP figures, to play Osprey's En Garde rules, for example.

I know that you normally shy away from casting figures without heads, Martin, but might this be an instance where separate bodies and heads could work? And/or a "character heads" pack so that folk could make up their 4 Musketeers to match Hollywood stereotypes?

Interesting idea Simon.
On a parallel thought I wsa thinking of casting them without swords so that players can drill and insert wire?
What say all you readers?

I say "yes please" to no cast-in swords. It's easy to drill and fix wire or bristles, and such Musketeer figures would look that much better being able to field the rapier-type swords of the period.

Dare I say that the gamettes are really for 15 Mill enthusiasts, most of whom don't mind a little bit of extra work to enhance their figures and potentially broaden their use?

The downside of this idea is of course that the figures may become so popular that Martin has to make proper moulds for them and offer them as a standard pack?  :)

I would prefer my swords on or I would have to get someone to make my figures for me as my conversion skills are negligible.

Latest thoughts from play testing are

1. Standing on the "9" constitutes completion of a passage.
2. More difficult for guards to shoot. 8 or 9?
3.Add  a mechanism for recording wounds (musketeeer) and deads (guards)
4.Removing old passages due to event needs a look at.
