Title: Chargers versus stayers 30th May 2023
Post by: martin goddard on May 31, 2023, 07:49:39 AM
Good game of CK.
Sarmatians versus imperial romans.
The Romans had an excellent defensive position.

Romans = all armoured.
Sarmatians = all cavalry.

The game started with a flank attack by the Sarmatians upon the Romans.
This was the first of several fights in which the Romans rolled brilliantly.
After these major set backs for the Sarmatians it looked very good for the Romans.

The Samaritans re gathered and plunged in again.
This time they swept a hole trough the Roman ranks.

It looked like  a Sarmatian win, but a sneaky Roman skirmisher  bunch cut into the advance.
It ended as a Roman win because of the game start slaughters  on the Sarmatian cavalry.

The Sarmatian cavalry did well to re-group and fight on.

The game ended with small Roman win.

The Romans had 3 bolt engines. They achieved 2 kills which seemed about right.

If Simon was there we would have had a few photos.
I will get some done next time.

My Romans are nearly done. Looking forward to using them against the barbarian hordes.

Sorry for the lack of photos, Martin  :D

And I will post some from Monday in due course.

Interesting that the Romans did well despite being all armoured and therefore presumably a small number of units?

The Romans were lucky in that of the 6 zones of table width only 1 was  easy for  a cavalry attack.
The Sarmatians cleverly carried out a really good flank attack from the woods.
However luck would have it that I rolled 9 successes from a  handful of 16D6.

You can't argue with a lucky general  :)
