Here are some reminders about the WA rules.
They are not changes to the rules. They are clarifications to help players.
( If I have it wrong then just say.)
1. Militia. Can use loose formation.
2. Indians. Can use loose formation. +2 fight D6 if they are in woods or marsh.
3. American loses 1 success on "who is attacker"
4. Battalion guns. Only shoot as opportunity shooting. Only "pop out" if unit did not use any move increments. No dead placed if gun damaged.
5. Removing low on ammunition status. Spend 1AP and achieve a 4,5,6. Unit MUST have not moved or shot.
6. Battered. 2.5 bases or less.
7. Brigade commander. If joins a unit. The unit auto motivates even if other motivations failed. Once per game he can CANCEL a morale test but takes 2 risks ( risk = 6 = dead).
8. Rout cause 2 morale test to be taken by units within 6". If more than 2 within 6" then owner chooses which 2.
9. Shooting. Front rank only.
10 Why have a second rank? To make the unit narrower and thus, more manoeuvrable.
11. Removing disorder. Spend 1AP and score 4,5,6. Multiple attempts allowed.
12. Can players sing Belefonte songs. Only "Island in the sun".

Thanks Martin,

In a typical case of mixing up the rules, is it ACW where half of the second rank can fire?
The 2 rank formation represents I think the reinforced line that was often used to both narrow the frontage and to gain some weight of numbers on the charge. Having said that actual hand to hand combat was a rare sight on a Reolutionary battlefield. Which is why the falter test is one of m favourite mechanics in all of the RFCM stable.
Battalion guns were also known as grasshopper guns I think. Small caliber pieces of artillery that were like pop guns but were able to cause some consternation. Again a lovely mechanic only allowing them to fire in opportunity fire.
The cancelation of a morale test by an officer is in Civil War Battles too and I'm fairly sure I've never remembered to use it 😂
All this typing is making me want to have a game. Will have to be solo as its Vietnam at the club on Friday.
From my preliminary read aI think WA is one rank only. You are correct about CWB being 1.5 ranks.
There is no time at the moment for a WA re write, which is what I am tempted to do every time we do a battle day.

;D
Just know Martin, that many people love and enjoy the rules as they are and that there is no expectation of them being rewritten any time soon.
Italian Wars, Boer War, French Indian War, Robin Hood (!) and of course, the War of Jenkins Ear would all be lovely when you get 5 minutes spare 😅🤣
Agreed Sean.
I prefer the War of Jenkin's Other Ear.
