Hi John.
I have already replied on Facebook, I'm looking forward to this.
Hopefully I'll be able to play a game I haven't played before.
Best wishes,
Martin Buck
Yes I saw it. Thank you.
Hopefully we'll have a reasonable variety of PP games at the event.
Well done for picking up this baton, John.
It's a bit too far North for me, but I hope you get good attendance for a great event!
Simon
Hi Simon,
To be clear, it's a joint effort with Sean Clark.
Yes it's a shame that we are so far apart. I've got everything crossed we get a good turn out. Thanks for your best wishes.
Regards
Hope I can get there.
martin :)
It would be great if you could Martin.
I may be coming up with Martin,
I can bring Pirate land raids and Ships
Stewart
You would both be extremely welcome Stewart.
I'd certainly love to see the pirate game.
I might join you going up ? Martin and Stewart. I will have a look at the dates.
Miles
There is excellent accommodation at the end of the street along from Element Games. I used it last year. Excellent breakfast!
Sean, an you post the contact details ref accommodation please
Thanks
Stewart
As per John's comments, this is something we have been discussing between us for a while. We were just waiting on a confirmed date from Element Games.
With the success of the two 'Game up North' events run by Julian, it is clear there is a northern contingent of gamers who enjoy the RFCM style of play. The one I attended last year was a great success and Julian put in a lot of hard work to make the day run smoothly. We are aiming to emulate this success and have around 11 tables booked should they be required.
For now we just wanted to get the date out there and in everyone's dairies. The format will be very similar to previous iterations, so hopefully 2 games for everyone. Clearly though we need people to provide those games for people to play! This can either be in an 'umpire' style roll or indeed with the provider playing the game as well.
Over the many years of playing RFCM games at these type of events, the 2 v 2 format is in my opinion best - not only for the social aspect, but also you have someone else to blame when things go wrong! However, if 2 people wish to turn up and play a game between themselves, whilst showing off their figures and how good the rules are then that is fine also. With 11 tables, there should be room for everyone.
At some point in the near future John and I will be putting out a request for game hosts. Stewart Meecham has already offered Pieces of Eight (probably both sea and land variants knowing Stewart!). John is developing a Western game. It would be wonderful to have a good spread of RFCM games on the go, so anyone with a hankering to do any one of the other 15 rule sets currently produced by Peter Pig, you'll be most welcome. For myself, I can pretty much do any of them, so I'll see what the interest is before committing and will look to fill in a gap somewhere.
Ok, that was longer than planned! More soon from John and Sean's Piggie Extravangant Reportoire (or JASPER for short. The R word was very tricky!)

Hi all,
New forum member here but I've taken part in both game days at Element games last year. Looking forward to being a part of this one too.
Any help required in setting things up?
Hi Kev
Welcome to the forum :-)
Not at the moment. We're still in the research and development stage. Once we get a bit closer to, we may require a few bits. I think nailing down the date and generating interest was our first priority, on the basis of the old adage that if you build it, they will come!
Good stuff! I've reached out to my mate Mike who's come to game up north in the past - he'd be very keen to attend, but hasn't invested in Piggy games yet so would still be a newbie.
I'm relatively local (Warrington) however if there are enough people staying the night before I'd likely join you all, good opportunity to go into Manchester for a bit of a social?
There's no requirement for everyone to bring something Piggie along...just to have an interest in the games and figures. Ideally we'll have a game on each table with as many people playing as possible.
As Sean says -
You don't have to bring a game.
All levels of experience in playing piggy games in general and the specific games on offer will be welcome.
In the next month or so we'll be asking if people do have game set ups they would like to bring. We'll then put together a list of what will be on offer.
Is the date fixed yet?
martin :)
hi Martin,
Yes.
Element Games sent me an email saying that the date is booked in.
Cheers
I will make it if I can but my usual dog sitter is not available that weekend :( . I may have an alternative but I won't know until a lot nearer the day.
I ve booked the time off either side of the weekend, so I can come up with Martin and Stewart.
As from our point of view it will be a "long weekend" Travel time, staying over and travelling back etc.
Games if you want I can bring up Hammerin Iron. As I do have a complete set up. Can even put on 2 tables at same time if required ? I have enough ships. Either based on Martins Quick scenario's or as a complete game. Whichever is required and wanted ?
Miles
Rightio, I'm definitely in gents. Lovely stuff!

Miles, just the offer of the game is great for now thank you. 1 table of Hammerin Iron ought to be enough for now. I think after thelis next weekend, we'll take a look at early interest and look to publicise more widely.
As you begin the organisation of the day Sean, here is what we are bringing so far.
The 14th October is a long way distant but planning in advance is probably a good idea.
Miles and I are travelling up together on the Friday night.
Miles is kindly doing the driving.
Thus, we can be there very early on Saturday morning to help with any setting up etc.
Miles is bringing a complete Hammerin' Iron.
martin is bringing a complete CK.
Stewart is checking his work schedule to see if he can make it or not. I expect he will give info here.
Would it be a good idea to publicise the event widely?
Is the event going in to the evening? If so, maybe there can be gametes, quiz or a talk?
Please don't let me push things onto the organisers. I am just happy to be there.
martin :)
Calling John and Sean
About the piggy day up north.
1.How many tables are booked at element games? I ask because games can be left set up for passers by to admire (Stewart's trench raid) / admonish (Sean's Towton).
2. A special piggy figure for the players on the day?
3. Are there other events or calls for table space that day? e.g a warhammer competition?
4. Mighta magazine come along to do a view/picture?
martin :)
I'm hoping over the next few days to start pushing the advertising for this. Myself and John are in communication in the background. Update by Saturday at the latest!
Sean,
I'm planning to be there,
Will bring 'Pirate land raid' game.
Stewart
The pirate land raid is an excellent game for this sort of occassion.
Quick and gets the brain going.
Love it.
martin :)
Too many games I want to try !!
You might consider leaving some games out whilst not in use so folk can have a "look"?
martin :)
That's a thought Martin.
Probably worth answering your question about number of tables here.
We've booked 1/4 of the hall. I haven't checked yet but it means another event will probably be taking place.
We have 11 6 x 4 tables.
The last time we had 5 (or 6 games) the spare tables were used to put stuff on.
2 sessions on the day.
That sounds good.
How much are the tables to hire?
martin :)
It's £155 for the 1/4 hall with a 1/3 rd deposit payable in July.
One thing that Sean and myself obviously need to look at is charge per person. Luckily we've got the 2 past events organised by Julian for a starting point.
John
Put me down for £70 toward that cost.
martin :)
:D that's really generous Martin. Thank you.
Brilliant Martin, thank you.
As has been mentioned we'll likely have 11 tables available. It would be great to have 1q games running, but that needs people to come forward and volunteer to put games on.
I'll create a separate thread for games and sign ups next week. The main thing is the hall is now reserved. Unfortunately my computer has died, so until I can buy a new one next week I won't be able to get a poster done...unless there's a volunteer who wants to step forward!
We are hoping for some nice raffle prizes on the day. Please spread the word. Let's make it a right good Northern Piggie day out!

Tickets now on sale thanks to John. I'm working on some raffle prize support and will update you as this comes on line.
But, if you're coming, please buy your ticket early to avoid disappointment!
An event T shirt similar to those Simon C does for Square Bashing will be on sale soon.
Further information will be up this weekend. The list if games is shaping up, but we need people to play them too.
Ordered and got my ticket.
Miles
Thanks Miles!
The games do need to be nice and easy or gamettes of larger games.
martin :)
John and Sean
I am going to put the vent on the PP website and start promotion soon.
What contact shall I give?
What other details shall I put on the PP website?
thanks
martin :)
All contact through an event email I have generated
northernpiggies@gmail.com
A list of games will go up in another thread shortly. So the email address a link here and a link to the Element Games page would be useful...

Many thanks
Sean
Thanks Sean.
I have added this to the shows and competitions part of the PP website.
I will do more work on it over the coming days and start the public information roll.
martin :)
Thanks for doing that Martin.
It looks rather spiffing.
Cheers

Exciting stuff!
I'll sign up on their site ASAP
All booked. And paid for, I will bring 'Pirate land raids'
Stewart
Thanks all.
That's my ticket bought.
I've just bought mine.
Best wishes Martin Buck
Thank you all.
Ticket purchased.
I just need to now check the Air Zamibia schedule....
Are so this is the date, difficult when there are so many streams for the same event.
Well I've just paid the deposit.
We just need to sell lots of tickets now.
Can someone make a "poster" that I can put on the PP website etc.?
martin :)
I think Sean had offered to get a poster produced. Certainly it's beyond my capabilities.
But I haven't heard from him for a while. So yes if someone could produce one that would be fantastic.
Apologies...still here. Work isn't great at the moment and taking a lot of time. However, I'm away at the moment to renew the batteries. On my return next week I'll try and sort something.
Rightio, I've booked!
Jimmy
I have been sent a drop box message from Element games.
Is it OK to open and what is it?
martin ???
I don't know Martin.
The message I got today gave the people who had bought tickets so far and their emails (for ongoing communication).
But don't know why you would be sent the same thing.
Leave it with me I'll ask.
Thanks John
It is titled "REQUEST" which is why I thought it odd..
martin :)
Hi Martin,
I've heard back from Element. It was dodgy Spam so please delete. Thanks for flagging up they've taken corrective action.
Regards
I was going to say, I ve not received anything, I booked my ticket some time ago ?
Miles
Thank you John.
Just hope my Nigerian oil funds come through. It has been a while since I sent him £1000.
Patience is needed I suppose?
martin :)
Morning.
I've been promising a poster for a while now. Should get it finished this weekend :)
Sean,
Well done and thank you.
Best wishes,
Martin Buck
We're up to 12 now with the very welcome addition of Bob Nelson! Welcome Bob!
!!! There are now only two tickets still available for the event. So if you are planning to attend but haven't got your ticket yet please don't delay !!!
One vitally important thing to bring to everyone's attention: there is a very good old-fashioned pie shop around the corner from the venue that does breakfast - https://maps.app.goo.gl/NdLghUiNgZW9Q49A6
There's also a coffee shop next door to it if you want a good hot drink to go with it.
If memory serves Element games doesn't do food or hot drinks so you may want to pop in before the event starts (I've done so for the last 2 PP days and been very happy with the results.)
Thank you Kev
Local knowledge shared.
Good news
martin :)
Worth pointing out Element Game' food and drink policy.
They have no problem with people bring their own food to the venue.
However, they ask that you don't bring in drinks from off site.
I'm pretty sure they sell hot drinks as well as cold drinks but I'll check.
