The battlefield  after the two armies are deployed.
Egyptians and Macedonians.

The Macedonian left flank. Those pikes look fearsome.

The Macedonians were defending two gentle hills.
The Macedonian pikes advanced. Won a couple of fights but got sucked in surrounded and shot to bits.
The Macedonian right flank with cavalry and auxiliaries lost its fights and fell apart (they holed up in the village and hid; very wise).

We used two armies with the right figures.
The Macedonians had better infantry with their pikemen.
The Egyptians had more infantry, which were able to out flank the Macedonians.
The Macedonians could have held the hills but  martin ordered an advance fearing being shot to bits.

A good game with about 7 fights.

martin :)

PS Macedonians got slaughtered; with the Egyptians gaining a  38 point victory.

Another note.
Leading on from the dot and line discussion.
The table is marked using dots.
I think it looks very good.
Additionally CK does not require players to put sheets and flotsam all over the table as there is sufficient off table near and far margin.

I really like the Geek Villain SICILY mat too. I use one ( another one)  for Mexican revolution as well. Highly recommended as a generic war mat.

Nice looking mat and game.

I like the way that the pikes look "proper long" too :)
