The black band around the funnel top on Passic is probably a waste of time.

My monitor class ships are all painted metal with a it of rust on them.
Always put in a bit of grey in with the metal colour. Wether it is light or dark grey is up to you/ colour of any photos-pictures. Obviously if it looks dark go slightly darker type grey. Make the colour a metallic grey rather than just metallic.
You might be able to recover it slightly by making a metallic grey colour and lightly dry brushing it over the model ? It's only a suggestion? If not keep them as they are.
