Wonderful, Simon, and another fine graphic for the day. Thank you!
Simon
Derek. I am happy to lend you either late war Germans or late war British.
The British have tanks but the Germans do not (although they can use the British ones as captured).
Trenches. I have a Trench system.
In 2022 Miles and I went up in a car and stayed at a hotel which made the journey home much easier.
i.e play on Saturday 30th September. Have a meal out, Go to hotel, drive back Sunday morning 1st October.
Anyone want a lift from Weymouth (via Christchurch) ?
martin :)
The graphic is great but who is the chap standing up? Landser stupid?
martin :)
I am up for that. Count me in.
Miles
I ve put the event on the Peter Pig Players Facebook group.
Also my Ticket is booked.

I have booked my ticket. Can bring both late German or British.
Bob
Saw an interesting image today on YouTube of a British tank, probably 1917 or 18, named Kim and embellished with a swastika (perpendicular) as a good luck symbol.
Thanks Martin. Will take you up on that on whatever side I end up. lol
Also up for staying overnight.
Derek

Hi Derek, are you still OK to play? and be a German? (I'm sure we have loaners)
Is this still firmly fixed in the diary? If it is, it will encourage me to paint my French at long last!
I'd do them anyway, Sean.
If for any reason this event doesn't happen, you'll be all ready for next year :D
Simon
I see now (had to check...) that I bought my ticket back in February, so I do hope it's still on!
Simon
It's still on..
The only difference is that it's a bit more laissez-faire as I've just got less free time than I had hoped . Did you not get the mail I sent on the subject ?
Thanks
Simon
Possibly...and very probably missed it. Ticket bought today.
Just as an update on the entries we have so far...

Put me down as German as per the original plan, but happy to go either way.
Ticket bought.
Thanks for organising this Simon

Here is the provisional plan for the day
(https://i.postimg.cc/CMH65NvJ/Screenshot-2023-08-24-143440.jpg)
Note neither of the Chris's have confirmed attendance, but currently I'm scratch playing- so we can handle more.
We do have extra spaces so if anyone does want to join in please shout out. We do have loaner armies
Morning Game
Trench game. The Germans will be attacking 'in force'
Each game will be played independently – just side by side (keep it simple)
We will score as per the rules – totalling the points. The winning 'side' will be the attacker in the afternoon game
Afternoon Game
German breakthrough or Allied counter-offensive (depending on the morning game)
The games will be 'regular' type...
Each player will bring 2 lists for their army. 1 for the morning, one for the afternoon. As you will know what stance you will be taking in the first game you can tailor as you see fit. However, you will not know whether you will be attacking or defending in the afternoon, so you need to be more 'rounded' in your army selection
Lovely. I have plenty of trench to bring.

Shouldn't that be "Ich bin Deutsche" ? ☺

Presumably we will be playing the Trench game as written in the main rule book?

Correct - RAW as much as possible

Simon
Correct - RAW as much as possible
"RAW" meaning - "Rules As Written", I'm guessing?
Can you clarify what then might differ, please?
Simon
Hi
RAW - rules as written.
the only difference will be 5th, 7th & 8th bullet regarding terrain. Basically, it will be a preset terrain.
Bullet 15 will apply, in that you can get scenery move attempts.
apart from that all rules apply , including bunkers & the mine! :o
Thanks Simon. I knew about the bunker, but will clearly need to read up again about the mine!
Simon
Can I clarify the second army list for the day?
I had understood from the discussion here that we should create a balanced list for the afternoon game that we would have to use whether we end up attacking or defending.
However, the event instructions on the Battlefield Hobbies website says that we should bring an attacking list and a defending list.
Which is it, please?
Simon
The second list should be a balanced list. The BH event details haven't been updated from my original plan .. which has since been much simplified
I will do an update via email this week in preparation
Thank you for clarifying, Simon.
Simon
Got my Dashboard and Markers from Warbases, just in the nick of time !
I ve added some "Stand" markers for the game tokens as well.
I ve even managed to paint a few figures for once !
Roll on Saturday.
I assume the British player who hasn't got an opponent wins by default ?

Many thanks to all who attended this year's Square-bashing day. Hope you all enjoyed it. Here is the final debrief -
The morning game reflected the German 1918 spring offensive. So it was a trench game, with the Allies defending. Draw and results being
(https://i.postimg.cc/cJx0XWt1/Screenshot-2023-10-01-155344.jpg)
The aggregated result of all scores was an Allied Definite victory rebuffing the German assault. This meant that the afternoon game would see the Allies counter-offensive.
The aggregated result of all scores was an Allied Minor victory. However, two large German victories somewhat tempered the result.
The overall aggregated score for the day ended up as a DRAW. The allies edged it by 4 points, 2 points shy of getting an overall minor victory.
Much ammunition, shells and gas were expended for not much gain in the end ! Which seems reasonable! :)

Simon,
Thanks for organising a great day. Also, thanks for my two opponents. The afternoon game was a classic example of the ability of the Americans to call friendly fire on themselves which changed the game completely around. I was on the point of resigning until the American's called in the artillery deviated onto their own units them fail all the morale tests and three units rout off table, with other units withdrawing. My smashed German force held on to win.
Bob
It seems that after a bit of VAR one of the score sheets has the scores transposed.
BUT it was just a 6 point difference, so the overall result is the same... even more a draw in reality !
MPV players (highest score)
Allies - Pete G
German - Ray and Bob (tie on 167)
Note that the German scores were much more polarised than the allies. The Allied score deviation was just 26, and the German 82.... So Ray and Bob did all the heavy lifting!
With apologies for the delay, I've finally got around to posting my photos from this year's SB Day.
My first game was against Ray's newly-painted Germans. I rolled very poorly on depletions, resulting in around half of my force starting off-table.
Luckily the mine (in the trench scenario) did not go off, but Ray's Stormtroopers captured a key section of trench in their pre-game move. And it didn't really get much better from then on!
The start of the game, with the stormtroopers well on their way to the right-hand objective:

Simon
Wow ! Excellent pictures of these two games... I like them very much (German troops assaulting the bunker, and the last one of the first game are terrific !).
Thank you for this debriefing...
Cheers,
Xavier
Thanks Xavier - I'm trying to remember to take pictures low-down, as per instructions from France :)

They do look like a really good pair of games.
Great Photos Simon.
