Title: Posca Pens
Post by: Colonel Kilgore on December 31, 2022, 04:44:59 PM
I've been thinking of investing in some Posca extra-fine tip pens [https://www.posca.com/en/product/pc1-mc/]
for those tasks where I'm not good enough with a paint brush (e.g. shield designs). They also look good for adding stripes to trousers (e.g. Gauls); colouring tartan kilts (Sudan Scots), etc.

Does anyone have experience with them?

We use POSCA white pens for mould and model labelling.  They are verygood and do not clog.
I have no experience with their other procuts but quality seems jolly good.

Thanks Martin. Little Miss K has used them for artwork and they seem great. At c. £3 a pop, they seem a reasonable punt.

I know this reply is late...I use a white one to do the hat lace on tricorn hats- admittedly in 28mm but I'm not perfect and I think they would work for proper scale figures too. I bought a pack of four black, white, gold and silver. Sorts out buttons.

Do you think they will stay "fast" after time, varnishing  and daylight?

So far they have aged well-admittedly only nine months or so. Even the metallic ones have withstood a good coat of gloss varnish being brushed on.
Gloss is good in my world.

You may be interested to learn they were trialled for marking museum objects. The only issue was the longevity of the ink/paint. Otherwise they produced fine lines, good consistency and were not prone to clogging...

I use paint markers occasionally for modelling but I find a brush goes round corners etc. whereas you kinda need a flatter surface for the pens to operate well.
