Hope you like them.
Cheers,
Kev
Very very nice!
Beautiful work man, your painting style is top notch, OMG just noticed, there is a dude bearing his ass in the last pic Bhahaha!! so cool!
Yes , excellent painting
Really good.
Whats the significance of the coloured edges to the cavalry, but not on the infantry.
Cheers chaps.
These are Brigadier Generals for use with Pickett's Charge rules. They're to make the bases stand out more. I tend to use all sorts of aesthetic vignettes (aka 'fluff') on the table to make it more interesting and fun. The downside is that other people tend to find it difficult to actually identify where the commanders are.
Kev
These are excellent. Quick question: are the bases 25mm square?
Thanks. Yes. 25mm square bases for Pickett's Charge.
Thanks - just as inspiring as the ECW painted figures.
More reinforcements.
1st Btn Louisiana Zouaves (Coppens Zouaves). Lots of head swaps.

Cheers,
Kev
Again, lovely painting. I have recently put in a request for havelock heads..
Just finished a new brigade of Rebs, using some of the new CSA General character packs as Mtd Colonels and some as Brigadiers.
Kec amazing!
What camera do you use to get such clear images???
Cheers mate.
An old Canon A480 Powershot on 100 ISO
This 100 film really catches everything .
Very very nice - both the figures and the photography!
Another Reb brigade finished this weekend.
Now adding a few more Federal regiments using some of Martin's newly released Western troops. I will add some more Union command stands with mtd Colonels once the USA Generals packs are released.

Lovely work Kev. Do you still use your magic wash? Your style seems to have evolved and is mire reminiscent of the 'Dallimore' style. Really vibrant colours which are very effective.
Your website is still a huge inspiration for me!
You are nice too Kev!
Cheers guys.
Still use magic wash but then highlight over the top now more.
My own collection used to be a little more basic in its painting style with often no highlight, particularly as regards ACW, as this is now my oldest collection. For my painting service customers I tended to put in more effort. The last couple of years I've been painting my own stuff the the same sort of standard.
More new reinforcements painted this week during a period of enforced stay at home to look after a poorly daughter. She's well now, just in time for Crimbo. ;D
These feature Martin's recent new sculpts for ACW Federal infantry in the Western theatre, but there's a lot of headswaps too.
Happy Xmas folks.
I really like that "field of blue" look Kev. Makes the army look wonderful. They will "go in" for certain!
Love the ragged Union look and especially the barehead chaps!
Yesterday's work, after everything ready for crimbo...
48th Indiana and battery of 3" Ordinance rifles.
That's it. Brushes downed until Boxing Day.
Merry Xmas everyone.

Very nice indeed!
What colours do you use for jackets and trousers, please?
Citadel kantor blue for tunics and Citadel The Fang for trousers as basecoats.
Over the Magic Wash Vallejo Prussian blue for tunics and Citadel Hoeth Blue for trousers.
More reinforcements for my collection.
Dismounted Union cavalry and limbers. Absolutely loving the new limbers with standing horses Martin. Four more on the workbench at the moment..
Those limbers look fantastic Kev. I do not often get to see painted results. thanks.
Wow - those limbers are great!
Would look good in a Peter Pig commercial. Or maybe the next 15 Mill ezine...?
Good suggestion Simon
They are on the line now via the PP video page.
Gosh! what inspiration Kev. Many thanks for those. I actually went for standing limbers as well as I like to leave them behind the guns when in action.
Hi. Two more Union standing limbers finished yesterday.
Two Confederate ones on the workbench to follow shortly.

They are lovely - very inspirational! Thanks for posting.
Really good job on those Kev.
~ ditto ~ They're very good. Got me thinking I might need some reinforcements myself now(!). ;D
They really are very nice. Almost tempts me to get some ACW. If I manage to paint a gajillion Napoleonics then maybe...
Radar, Westie.
I am sure the workshop will soon cat up, and post out to you your orders!
Morning off, so I finished the Confederate limbers.
Excellent Kev
They will go in.
ACW uniforms are great. I like grey and the subtle browns that off set them. But then the dark blue union looks very smart. a period that just grabs the player's attention straight away!
They certainly grab attention, show off the lovely Piggy figures and make it clear who's who.
I'd just be sad that I'd never manage to get them to look like Kev does...
Good grief. They are nice. They really 'pop'!
I love the magic wash finish on those.
Hiya. A few more new ACW units been added to my collection for TFL "Pickett's Charge" over the last few weeks. Lots and lots of headswaps for more variety.
Great work Kev. Really liked the two head swap mounted officers - bandaged and havelock. Have been inspired to pick up the brush again and have a crack at my Italian Wars French army.
After major hiatus in life at the moment I finally got round to some new stuff.
Peter Pig's New ACW Pack 34 - Camp Party with a fire from Western Range Pack 10. Pinned/home markers

Hi Kev,
Beautiful little diaromas.
Thank you,
Martin Buck
Kev - they're wonderful - thank you for posting!
Simon
Have to agree - superb vignettes. Your work has been a real inspiration to me as I am about to complete my Confederate army for the F6 rules and embark on the Union.
Hello all,
I'd just like to post a quick message to tell Kev that I'm a huge admirer of his work. Always a massive inspiration and he's definitely up there with Troaini in that respect. Congratulations on being so fortunate in possessing such talent.
Well Kev you have done it again. Really really nice. Shall I assume I can "pilage" those pics for edition 5 of the Mill??
thanks
martin
Thanks for the nice comments folks. I love a bit of gaming 'fluff' on the table.
Please Martin pillage away. I'd be honoured.
Painting up the newly released Union mounted Commanders at the moment, mostly as Regimental Colonels. Lovely castings again Martin.
Kev
Kev, you make ordinary painters like me feel inadequate. Keep it up. Hope to see you at WWS soon.
Cheers John mate. Keep trying to get to the club with Jack but Saturday's are currently too hectic.
Can't beat a bit of table fluff. Particularly like the 'Butcher's Bill'
Some of Martin's new Union Generals. Mine are based in pairs as Brigadiers for use in TFL Pickett's Charge. Blue edge to make them stand out on the table.
L to R - Buford and Hooker, Grant and Hancock, Sherman and ADC, Sheridan and Meade

The blue used reacts with flash making it look a fair bit brighter in the pics than in reality. I use Citadel Kantor Blue with Vallejo Prussian Blue highlight.
These are getting their first outing today in a Pickett's Charge game with my 11 year old son Jack. Doubtless as newly painted they will perform disgracefully and run away for me.
More soon ;D
Kev
Lovely work on those Kev. Best of luck giving the Johnnies a good whupping.
Huzzah.....I won. Who said newly painted couldn't win....er...me? ;)
More pics of painted New PP Generals....
These are incorporated on unit command bases as Mtd Colonels....
58th Illinois/Burnside, 42nd New York/Sickles, 2nd Vermont/McClellan, 12th New York/ADC, 66th Ohio/ADC kepi Head swap, 14th Indiana bandaged head swap

Hi Martin. I notice there are two Union and one more Confederate General slots to be completed. When are these scheduled for release? Before my discount expires on 13th December or after?
More soon,
Kev
Beautiful paintjob Wally! They look great.
Those spare slots will probably not see any "fillers until 2020 I am afraid. There are plans, but other jobs are further up the "ladder". :)
Thanks mate. I'm just being greedy.... ;D
More new stuff using some of the newly released Union Generals. Pickett's Charge Cavalry Brigadier, 16th, 9th & 32nd Massachusetts, 14th New York regiments unit Command Stands
Cavalry Brigadier uses the new ADC and Mtd Standard Bearer from Union Generals packs. 16th & 9th MA use new Union General castings Butler & Reynolds respectively.
(https://i1238.photobucket.com/albums/ff498/KLowth/Kevs%20ACW/IMG_5409_zpsdhq4dkc4.jpg) (https://s1238.photobucket.com/user/KLowth/media/Kevs%20ACW/IMG_5409_zpsdhq4dkc4.jpg.html)

My 15mm ACW collection now runs to well over 3,000 figs with more being added on a regular basis. I'm at the stage now where, apart from gaming 'fluff', I just add new unit command stands to change unit IDs.
More soon.
Kev
Again excellent work Kev.
Superb work !
I like very much the way you paint your ACW figures and organize them on their bases...
It really looks terrific !!
New stuff Peter Pig stuff for Pickett's Charge (sorry ;D)
44th New York (aka Ellsworth's Avengers)
(https://i1238.photobucket.com/albums/ff498/KLowth/Kevs%20ACW/IMG_5436_zpsdudjgr6b.jpg) (http://s1238.photobucket.com/user/KLowth/media/Kevs%20ACW/IMG_5436_zpsdudjgr6b.jpg.html)
This Elite regiment wore an americanized zouave uniform which consisted of a dark blue zouave jacket with red piping on the cuffs, dark blue trousers with a red stripe, a red zouave shirt, a dark blue forage cap, and a pair of leather gaiters. The jacket had buttons down the front of it which was not part of the original French zouave uniform. I've chosen to portray this as having a mixed uniform. The gaiters have been discarded in favour of more comfortable socks, and several figures wear sack coats.

10th New York (National Zouaves)
(https://i1238.photobucket.com/albums/ff498/KLowth/Kevs%20ACW/IMG_5431_zpscn61olvk.jpg) (http://s1238.photobucket.com/user/KLowth/media/Kevs%20ACW/IMG_5431_zpscn61olvk.jpg.html)
I've depicted these wearing the brown Zouave jacket that they wore during the Seven Days and Second Bull Run campaigns of mid 1862. It was replaced in September 1862 with dark blue. Numerous head swaps using head packs 19. Bare head, 24. Fez Egyptians, 73. ACW Zouave turban, 94. Italian fascist cap, 115. Bandaged heads & 117. Bandana for lots of variety.
(https://i1238.photobucket.com/albums/ff498/KLowth/Kevs%20ACW/IMG_5432_zpsh6xysun0.jpg) (http://s1238.photobucket.com/user/KLowth/media/Kevs%20ACW/IMG_5432_zpsh6xysun0.jpg.html)
Union Brigadiers
(https://i1238.photobucket.com/albums/ff498/KLowth/Kevs%20ACW/IMG_5430_zpshcap3vyx.jpg) (http://s1238.photobucket.com/user/KLowth/media/Kevs%20ACW/IMG_5430_zpshcap3vyx.jpg.html)
Using the recently released Union General Grant and Thomas packs. The Grant pose I've painted as General Thomas Francis Meagher (Pronounced Marr). Meagher was commander of the famous Irish Brigade, and during the Seven Days campaign in 1862 wore a green velvet uniform and a straw hat with a dark green feather. I made the feather from a very small bit of Woodland Scenics clump foliage. The accompanying officers are ADC from the Generals personality packs but with Forage Cap headswaps fro head pack 67.
(https://i1238.photobucket.com/albums/ff498/KLowth/Kevs%20ACW/IMG_5428_zpshwn59yqh.jpg) (http://s1238.photobucket.com/user/KLowth/media/Kevs%20ACW/IMG_5428_zpshwn59yqh.jpg.html)
Cheers Kev.
They look terrific Kev. Again, lots of inspiration. Just in the process myself of making a Union western frock coated regiment with a number of ECW headswaps for real variety.
Very nice as ever, Kev. I do like the Leprechaun General in particular!
They do look rather good. Almost tempted to paint regiment after regiment in almost identical uniforms. But then I remember the Austrians, Russians and Prussians waiting in the Napoleonic queue.
Very good, I will be painting Meagher hopefully I need a general for my Irish brigade, will be doing a Picketts Charge game soon also.
February 1864 saw 155th Pennsylvania Regiment issued with Zouave uniforms, in time for the Overland Campaign. They wore a 'French Blue' uniform contrasting with the 'Dark Blue' of the 140th NY and the 'Sky Blue' of the 146th NY Zouave units which they were brigaded with.
(https://i1238.photobucket.com/albums/ff498/KLowth/Kevs%20ACW/IMG_5440_zpsnhjikljm.jpg) (http://s1238.photobucket.com/user/KLowth/media/Kevs%20ACW/IMG_5440_zpsnhjikljm.jpg.html)
My usual Federal blue is Citadel Kantor Blue base with Vallejo Prussian Blue highlight or Citadel Macragge Blue highlights. I wanted them to look slightly different to my usual Federal blue troops.
(https://i1238.photobucket.com/albums/ff498/KLowth/Kevs%20ACW/IMG_5442_zpss5fwu94k.jpg) (http://s1238.photobucket.com/user/KLowth/media/Kevs%20ACW/IMG_5442_zpss5fwu94k.jpg.html)
For 155th I used Citadel Macragge Blue base and Vallejo Dark Blue highlights. Due to the camera flash this looks much, much brighter than it actually does on the tabletop. The difference in actuality is noticeable but certainly not as gaudy as these figures look.
(https://i1238.photobucket.com/albums/ff498/KLowth/Kevs%20ACW/IMG_5443_zpsforcivsl.jpg) (http://s1238.photobucket.com/user/KLowth/media/Kevs%20ACW/IMG_5443_zpsforcivsl.jpg.html)
All four Peter Pig Zouave packs used. Numerous head swaps using head packs 73. ACW Zouave turban, 94. Italian fascist cap, & 15. Bandaged heads for variety.

Kev,
These are, as usual, lovely. You've depressed me for the weekend as I return to painting lots of German Field Grey...
But thanks for sharing ;)
Simon
Hi Kev,
Very nice painting.
Regards,
Martin Buck
Lovely, lovely :)
Great work again.
Last unit of Zouaves planned for my Federals. 140th New York.

140th only received their Zouave uniforms in January 1864 and saw heavy losses during Grant's Overland Campaign.

Fantastic as usual.
We are having a game with Picketts charge next, great rules.
