Squarebashing 2017 is to be held on 24th June, at Battlefieldhobbies in Daventry.
It will be a team event (entries permitting). The armies are divided into 2 Pools. In each team - one player plays allies, the other central powers.
The lists and statuses are

There will be 2 games, Team against Team (Allies vs Central Powers). For each game the sum of each team score will be added to the team total. The army points are 620pts (standard game)
To encourage using under valued armies the sum total of army rating will be deducted from final score.
The terrain will be pre set , other than that, its RAW. You have the option to use the 'Rays Stick' method for countdown to battle. There will be no trench, canal or fort games. All painted figures please, we want it to look nice!
Any questions can be raised to me at Simon@lurkio.co.uk or via the RFCM forum
Tickets can be purchased using here

Can you please purchase tickets promptly , just so the venue has an idea on the lunch requirements. At the moment we are trying to get into the 'big' room which has meant that the cost has gone up a couple of quid (B/H need to put on another member of staff). But we need a dozen players to make that viable.

Excellent Simon - thanks.
I'm in and have paid up [Allies: Western Front British].
One thing to look out for on the Battlefield Hobbies website is that it defaults to add postage.
The Amex "via Barclaycard interface" payment didn't work for me either. But fortunately they managed to take my money by other means.
Simon
Well done that man!
Will put in for the tickets this week.
martin
Good News Martin! I'm sure we will chat about it at WMMS tomorrow
Stewart, has asked me some questions indicating that there is some confusion on the format. There are just 2 changes
Terrain. The tables will be preset, and themed so the 8 pieces of terrain for that table will stay there for the duration. But can be re-arranged as per the normal rules. Depending on turnout I might ask people to contribute a table. So, you turn up at a table and its just a case of playing with what there is there
Countdown. If both players wish, you can use the stick method of pre-battle/countdown phase. Just to make it quicker. But that is optional
The rest is just normal as per rules
You play as a team ( 1 central powers - 1 allied) , and the draw is by team. No blue on blue therefore. Combined score
Hi,
can I please get a rallying call for those that intend to enter this please get their tickets online
At the moment its barely viable and the venue would like to have a view on numbers to plan small and catering.
If you were on the fence please come along, its a great day, at a great venue. If you are unfamiliar with the rules it doesn't matter, there are plenty of experience folk and it more of a pleasant game day rather than some cutthroat competition
thanks
Simon
Simon, my work is very fluid so although I am planning to attending I can't commit until a week or so before
Hi Simon - i have just bought a ticket online. I have put myself down as Central Powers although I a flexible either way depending on what loan armies are available.
Cheers
Simon Mk III
Paid. Down as central powers but happy to play either.
Will get straight on to it, sorry got distracted!!
I'm just about to start painting some Late war French field guns to add to the French Infantry painted up for this event. How are the numbers going (I'm travelling up with the Weymouth group - Martin has purchased our tickets I believe) and do you have a good spread of armies?
Still got to paint up command, MGs and tanks so better get on with it - I'm procrastinating again.
Chris
This reminds me I need to paint up some late war command stands rather than use my early war ones.
Chris, I have some French tanks if you want to use them
Thanks Stewart. I have a couple of Char Saint Chamonds from Battlefront I bought in one of their sales a couple of years ago. I hope to have these painted up by 24th but if I don't I may well call on yours. The good thing about SB day is that it is forcing me to put together an army I've had for a while but failed to finish painting. I blame Martin if he made his figures more blob like I wouldn't be tempted to buy them.
Turkish or Belgium's next?
Chris
Chris i have soem painted LW French units if you need them?
Chris your so easily distracted!!!
Do some turks next, bucket fulls of reservists, lots of cavalry, armoured train, and no tanks.
Should not take long!!
Chris,
I am looking forward to recreating Verdun in our game. I am watching The Price of Glory for research.
As the weekend looms we have the following update to the faithful fans. We have 14 players (which is nearly doubles last year!), so a great turnout. I have changed the format a little, rather than having teams of 2. I'll just have 2 pools (Central Powers & Allies). The draw will be taken from each pool. So you will be playing for the prestige of being the best Allied and best Central Power player. Same bonus points based on pool 'best army' should all be pretty obvious. So victory points are bonus points + points from game 1 + points from game 2. The level of victory doesn't matter you just want as many points as possible - simples.
The Scores are as follows! (based on army status alone)

The Draw is as follows -

I hope everyone is excited!

Now that Robert Nivelle is commander in chief, the French army is destined for more glory. With a new policy of futile frontal assaults and the reinforcement of failure the German army is bound to be in full retreat by sunset. Fix bayonets and as Martin says 'what could go wrong'.
Just getting into the spirit with red wine infused with garlic.
Chris
I'll be having a supper of leberknödel sauerkraut and Schnapps to get me in the mood tomorrow night.
