"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." (George Santayana)
The following is my recollection of events. It may differ from others' recollections. Martin G is likely to be the most reliable source.
Around, pre and post Brixcon (2003 - 08) there was much debate over the original AK47 rules. This was often via on-line comment or query on the (original, but now defunct) RFCM website. It was agreed that the AK47 rules were fun, simple, unique and very good but required clarification and tidying-up in certain places.
However, AK47 was dropped and Reloaded took its place. This was seen by some players as a totally new set of rules rather than a new version of AK47. Many mechanisms and ideas were new and many were dropped, from AK47 to Reloaded. Yes, there was a sort of follow through from one set to the next but only comparable to, say, Company A's Napoleonic rules being like Company B's Napoleonic rules.
AK47 players tended to react to Reloaded like it was Marmite and either hated or loved it. The reason for the need to change the rules was never totally clear. Reloaded didn't seem to make significant improvements to AK47. I actually don't believe that any dislike from players about the introduction of Reloaded was so much about this as the apparent discarding, rather than tweaking, of AK47.
I am only spouting this because I already see a lot of similarities with the Reloaded rule debates.
Are we likely to get "AK47 taped magazines" which I'd guess is where a re-titled Reloaded may go to!

Thank you Bankinista.
You do have a point to raise here.
What he is trying to say. AK47 and AK 47 Reloaded are Two 'different games.
Yes they share the same title AK47.
But they are 2 different games in how they play etc.
Yes any rules are never perfect, and so things can be written wrongly, a sentence can be misplaced, mispelt etc, not always explained too well the list goes on.
Please remember any suggestions need to work and work well for both sides and all forces. The left hand and right hand situation, take from one etc.....
Rule writing is always a compromise. Some points in PBI (re-write/sorting)at the moment, highlight this quite well with the infantry A/T and LMG rules, but as always they will be sorted.
But then if everything was perfect, we would have nothing to write and discuss about on this forum.

"My intention was not to stir up an AK47 original v Reloaded debate. That is well in the past. The intention was simply to say that the last time the AK47 rules were commented on Reloaded was the outcome. I'm getting sense of deja-vu with comments on the Reloaded rules.

Understood Derek. The difference here is that Reloaded has never had any form of update. Classic had at least one revision, maybe two during it's lifetime. Those members who are playing Reloaded are quite happy, but the errata that Julian is compiling is constructive and helping to clarify issues. I'm splitting this topic rather than clog up the original thread so that things don't get muddied.
