Indulge me, if you will, with a link to my rekindled blog where I talk about a Regiment of Foote game at the club on Friday using an old boardgame to create a campaign.

Very nice!

That's a nice little campaign there, Sean. I like having such a context for the battle: whether to keep slogging on or making a tactical withdrawal to live to fight another day can be a tough decision to make!

That is indeed a good looking game.
Must Thank Sean as I spent £43 on buying a copy of the board game "The English Civil War"
Hopefully I can get to play it in a week or two over a few beers ?

I had that game as a teenager and we played it quite a bit. Even the included battle system works. Note, it is hard for the royalists to win the game - not impossible but you need to take Bristol quick and get a little lucky in the early game. The Scots are a big deciding factor. I think like history.
Ah good memories of those games. That game plus 'by the sword divided' TV show got me started on a life long fascination with the civil war. :)
"By the Sword Divided" was great (at the time anyway). I very much enjoyed that!

Its still okay if you ignore the wobbly sets!

That's true of almost every BBC series of that era. :D
Best wishes,

I am sure the Grand Meister of King's Landing was in that as his much younger self.
I think you're right Andy!
