Title: New terrain tables
Post by: John in York on March 01, 2022, 01:53:50 PM
Four of us have been meeting every 4 to 6 weeks for a game of Bayonet & Ideology.
We all really love the game. We have all the companies and options listed in the book. I can almost do all the terrain option by myself.
However, one of the group decided to add an extra level of detail to the game. He has looked at topographical maps of Spain and produced 40 new terrain tables based on the Regions of Spain
We have a first try out on Monday. We are doing the area near Huesca. Anarchists v Nationalists. No Built Up Areas but lots of rough hills (with trench lines he has written rules for) and olive groves.
Should be interesting to see what happens.

That sounds great, John.

I second the call for pictures!

Good luck, and have fun,

Simon

I'll try and remember to sort some photos.
I meant to add that this is in no way a criticism of the terrain table in the rules. We've always found it's given a balanced and challenging game.
My friend just wanted to come up with an alternative for when we wanted a different sort of game.
Not sure how long it took but I'm sure it was a long time.

Sounds marvellous.
Is he willing to do it as a MILL article?  Then it would be online for all to grab.

Firstly, thank you for the interest in this. My friend said he was flattered.
He is going to put together a Mill article so I'll save the photos I took at our first try out for that.
I would say it worked really well. I'm looking forward to our next game and using one of the other tables. There are 40 different tables I think.
Our game used the table for Huesca. There were no Building templates, but plenty of Hills and some wooded areas. It was a totally different challenge.

Don't forget to include a photo of your food; which worked well for Xavier. Everyone likes to comment on food(?)
