Title: Waited for this Charlemagne book
Post by: martin goddard on November 27, 2021, 04:27:30 PM
In April 2022 the Osprey Viking v Frank book is finally out.
This has been on my "to do" list. Marvellous.

Are Franks similar to Carolingians? Lancashire do some nice Franks and I wondered about using them as an all mounted army in Longships. Could be interesting. I think Big Mike might have a similar army already?

Yes they are the same folks Sean. Franks is  much wider term  of time and area.  LONGSHIPS is just the ninth century.
Mike does have the only Longships mounted army I believe?

Didn't Stewart do a Carolingian army using mounted PP Vikings, for the last Longships Day?

Martin is being very Frank about his plans for 2022. Might we expect Frankish dominion in the future to extend beyond the Pyrenees a la the Song of Roland? I expect there might even be a horn sounding Roland character figure planned... ;) Frankish cavalry may even open the field for 15mm fantasy gamers using historical proxy figures to game Middle Earth, which is quite popular in 25mm for example.

I think, frankly, that this is a very good point, Neil.

The riders of Rohan (possibly without the horse armour) could be a massive money-spinner for the PP empire.

They could be dual-listed under the Fantasy range too.
