That's the Infantry done. Nearly there with the guns and started on the command bases.

Then have to do it all over again but in shades of Blue!

Very nice Derek.
These are the figures you got last month or so-Yes
Yep, the warlord ones split into 4s.
Had to get a pack of the Kallistra command figures as run out from the sprues. Wanted to check the sizes anyway as going to do the Cavalry for CWB and Pony wars with them. A good fit but the Kallistra are slightly shorter. Thin bit of cardboard under the bases and they are fine though.
It was only once I had finished I realised I had done 480 infantry in about a month or so. 8 guns just need basing and have started on the 3 command bases. Then its just casualties, half bases and markers...........
Then do it all over again.
Derek
480 in a month is good going, Have you found it easier having joined figures to paint.
I am still on Cossacks :'(
Lovely work. You really get the feeling of a brigade with those figures.
Looking very good indeed.
Thanks guys. I can't take all the credit though. Yes, painting joined figure has, in many ways, made it easier to paint and by selecting carefully where I make the cuts in the 10 figure strips I can get a variety of rank. Faces (hair), rifle position (including which arms carries it) and arms and hats are about all that differentiates individual figures apart from one who is carrying his rifle at the port for some reason. As all the strips (for both sides) are the same moulding but different colours they don't carry the change in poses you would normally see or variation of uniform.
Those Warlord figures are so simple to paint but maintain enough details to carry the flavour of the period. The only issue is the size. I think they are 13mm. I did buy a pack of PP command but they just are too noticibly different. The Kallistra figure are a good match though and have used half a command pack (if you look to see what it includes you will see why). I am happy with them.
If you want to see for your self the easiest way is check EBAY. Can pick up a sprue of 100 figs for around £5-6 which includes 1 gun and a mounted command figure. In a way I am hoping they come out with other ranges in the future.
As the these ones I hadn't realised at the time that the way I was doing them makes it look like individual regiments within the brigades. I am tempted to do the casualties half base sized but with a single full rank rather than doing the half base depth-wise. I am sure the purists will be shocked and banish me and my heretical figures from Weymouth and beyond. Also I am not sure how, or if, this will impact on the game.
Derek
TBH, as Civil War Battles is a brigade level game I don't see a problem with the bases looking like individual units within a brigade. As these are game pieces, rather than a historical diorama for museum display, I don't see that it makes any odds.
Finally managed to get the Cavalry painted (plus dismounts)

Should be enough bases for a normal game. Figure are all Kallistra (3 packs - have same for Union when I get to them) apart from 3 mounted figures that are the Warlord ones from their sprues.
Derek
They look very good. I have done exactly gthe same with the cavalry. I did get some Warlord cavalry, but they are massive compared to the plastic infantry, and the Kallistra are, I feel, a better fit. Thw Warlord will be heading to the western theatre where they will work better with my 15s.
