Title: Group build number 2 - Scenery
Post by: martin goddard on August 26, 2021, 03:30:14 PM
Here is a report from martin about the group build 2.
I have made 4 pieces of fence +wall.

Talking through it.
I decided to make the pieces to include corners. It makes them look better than the usual linear pieces (I think). it also gives more  stability during game play.

The items used are PP stone walls (resin) and PP 5 bar wooden fencing.
The wall pieces are as per delivery. The fence pieces were snipped here and there.
The two signs are from the Western range.

First I cut out the base plastic (yellow for clarity). Difficult to cut around corners. I drilled a hole at each direction change. Then scored the plastic and snapped it out. The holes stop the split carrying on.

Beveled the plastic with a very sharp Stanley knife. Sharp knives are much safer.  Remembering to cut away from my body.

Roughed up/keyed the plastic with rough emery paper. Normal sandpaper could be used, but emery paper is more macho.

Stuck the bits to  the plastic with superglue because that is very fast. Does not allow for any re alignment though.

Milliput added in order to strengthen joins and add some rock sculpting.

Undercoat in golden brown.
Peat brown ink and burnt sienna ink from Winsor and Newton.
Bit of dry brushing.

Varnished with Ronseal Matt. Quick and strong.

Basing effect is Tetrion. Very strong, flexible, can be watered down and acts like a glue. Sprinkled with dry sand.

base painted with yellow ochre and highlighted with yellow and white to give dusty look.

All done

martin :)

Very good Martin.
You should feel smug with chocolate biscuits and a hot drink in a mug.

Please could you put a photo of the completed items in the "Group Build#2 Completed items" thread, thank you.

Best wishes,
Martin Buck
