I'm trying to label my Brixcon photos from the dim and distant past. There are a lot of armies and players I've forgotten. I'd like to post a few pics here and hope for help. "Hey, that's Joe Smith playing John Bloggs" etc. There are probably some data protection issues and so if any one person objects I won't do this. Thanks.
Derek
Sounds OK to me Derek. It's fairly normal practice to post up pictures on forums. If someone has allowed a picture to be taken, there is an implicit agreement that it may be used elsewhere. In my experience people quite enjoy seeing pictures of their younger self in a wargaming context.
Maybe just usual an initial for the surname - or use first names only - if there is likely to be any concern, Derek?
Simon
Go ahead Derek
The ones no longer with us will be flattered to be remembered!
martin :)
Thanks Martin.
It's a shame some are no longer with us. (Albeit I only know of one.) For most of us it's just a change of hair colour or loss of the same! To play safe I'll wait a bit longer before posting people but in the meantime here's a game pic which I know little about.

Well, that's a month now and no-one's complained or objected. So, without further ado: Can anyone put names to the following, (remember to allow for the ravages of time!)
(https://i.postimg.cc/RqZpLL8f/DCP-0131.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/RqZpLL8f)
Who on the left(1) v who on the right(2)?

Chris Perry is standing but who's in the game? Left (3) or right (4)

A seated Paul Hooper smirks whilst Derek Henderson (right) plays ? (left) (5)

Fred Cartwright (back to camera) plays ? (6)

Paul Hooper facing camera plays ? (7)
Any help in identifying these first 7 guilty parties would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Derek
I can do some of these
Top picture. Sitting down is Jason Ralls from Exeter.
2nd Picture man 4 = Lee Jackson. Now in London club.
martin :)
Thanks Martin.
Here we go again. More people to name and shame please. (If, as I suspect may be the case, you're too young for this, then please ask a wargaming father!)

In 2008, Graham Evans gives the Best Terrain prize to 12
Thanks for any help.
Derek
11 that is the "Loin king" prize. Overall winner. Maybe Sean could bring back Loin King as a title. I like it.
8= Chris Kemp (?)
martin :)
Thanks Martin. My "research" for this year (2007) has given me the prize winners names but not associated pics. They were:
Loin King Fred Cartwright
Runner Up Chris Ager
Most Hurts Sean Clarke
Mr Average Gary Lyon
Best Terrain Miles Milton
Best Painted Army Steve Irvin
I don't think 8 can be Chris Kemp (it's his terrain and one of the "rules" was you weren't allowed a home advantage). As far as I know there's no copyright on "Loin King" for the winner (don't even know who invented this title) so Sean should feel free to revive it.
Thanks again
Derek
How embarassing. I think I only won most hurts once though 😂
Loin king is a martin goddard creation.
I enjoy working with wurds.
martin :)
The Loin King's trigger discipline is a bit iffy.. ;D

It is Chris Kemp, and it isn't his terrain. That picture you posted in late August is his terrain. Martin G came up with the Loin King title.
Was this a pun, or a spelling mistake on a certificate?
Thanks Graham for the info
Excellent.
martin :)

It wasn't a typo on the certificate. I can't comment on whether it was a typo in the original e-mail, however.
Graham,
Do you have any of the files from your old Brixcon webpage? It was a lovely resource back in the day.

Alas no. Although it was a free hosting site, after it had sat idle for a year or so the hoster took it down. I have most of the information still, and probably the actual webpages although not in a format I can open(!). Most of the info is obsolete, being rule clarifications and new army lists for AK47 Original. Oh, and instructions on how to find Brixworth Village Hall. And probably the results.
BTW If you didn't know, the Red Lion pub, where we used to meet on the Friday night or nip in for lunch / beer afterwards is now no more. It lost its landlord, and in the absence of a replacement has been knocked down to build a new supermarket.
Useful though Graham, as version 1 still has its fans and is available to buy as a PDF.
I remember winning the Best terrain a couple of years in a row, when I took one table which was purpose build but actually correct,(witH all the terrain features in it ?- as described in the rules) I wasn't allowed to win it that year ? But I did use it in the PBI weekend at the St John's Ambulance place In Weymouth later that summer. Had the Dried Riverbed, 2 Bridges, African Village etc.
The unfortunate thing is I ve lost most of my pictures from that period.
That was the same year I got Food poisoning from the "Bakery" after eating a Burger from there as well.

Well, most of the v1 applicable stuff is in the Brixcon 2008 which I uploaded with the last post.

I have no recollection of that at all! As the saying goes "I've been to sleep since then". Intrigued as to which "Bakery" you bought a burger from...
I think it was the one near to the pub ? I know it was across the road from the Hall.
It was a few years ago ?
