Title: Mounted Figures
Post by: Smiley Miley 66 on July 24, 2021, 07:01:02 AM
What is the recommended amount of Mounted figures in a usual Western game please ?
Looking at a suggested Army force up 25 bases are required ?
I do have a lot of Foot bases but those that know me, know I like to have required forces for most options.
What is the thinking of how many "Mounted" against how many "Foot" ? Bases please Martin.

miles if i remember correctly most forces are mounted, 4 or 5 units,
towns folk are on foot with maybe 1 mounted unit
Indians are a mix of units.
mix of quality of units in a force so a unit is about 6 to 10 bases depending on quality.

my rules are stowed so not available as Mexican, Bloody Barons and PBI 20?? are in play at this time

I ve got the rules, it was really asking opinions on how many mounted bases to have ?
If I went for a mounted force throughout it looks like 25-28 bases if you go thru the rules, depending on qualities used etc.

I think that would have you covered Miles.

Im like you and like to cover all options. I also like having Dismounted figures, so my Posse has dismounted as well to cover that option.

Not sure if I'll do the same for Mexico. I probably will, but not sure at the minute!

in Western the units stay mounted for longer so i use horse holder markers if i don't have foot figures to show their status, for Mexico they dont stay mounted for long so i use mounted figures as a marker to show their status.
