We all have distractions from painting our toys. Yesterday a new one popped up for me! Hilary & I went to the new '100' cricket, it was outstanding, great atmosphere, really exciting game which went down to the last two balls to decide the winner. More tickets are now being brought, so less hobby time.
What are your distractions?
Dave
B****y work! :)
I am envious of those who have had extended periods of furlough, while simultaneously grateful I have a comparatively assured job......
During the last 16 months I have been busier than ever. I have gained 2 hours each day lost to travelling, but lost the one dedicated space in the house where I can paint. Even though I can regain it temporarily at the weekend I don't seem to have achieved much.....
Resource rich and time poor......
Only another 9 years unless I win the lottery....
Neil
I get distracted by all those distractions that others find: Pimms in the sunshine watching the cricket does sound rather good...
Simon
Come along to a game Simon, it was a really fast cricket - a step up on T20 in my humble opinion. Hilary is pushing to get to the Ageas Bowl for the first game there.
Dave
Did nothing for me. Just another desperate attempt by the cricket authorities to get more money.
Distractions. I can't think of any as I listen to the radio, rather than watch TV, so I can paint and listen. I suppose the current heat limits my concentration.

This should be right up your street then John.
Dave
For me it would be either the wife asking for the dining room table back or the cat deciding to "help". I do get fed up removing cat hair from drying paint.
Derek
Cricket isn't my cup of tea, but putting the radio on is a good one indeed. Or just generally listening to good music.
Miles
Distraction = trawling the internet for wargaming news.
A terrible waste of sculpting time
martin :)
This time of year it is "jobs in the garden", then "jobs in the house" when the summer is over.
Mike.
Mike,
Does working in the wargames shed count as "the garden"?
And do you find that you set out to cut the grass, but then get distracted by those little lead chaps watching you and just pleading for a run around the table? :)
Simon
Ï'm a sucker for films and TV series. currently enmeshed in Gotham. I also tend to paint more than play. The figures in my current game haven't moved for a week.

Simon, I like your thinking.
Mike
My big distraction these days is the dog...
She only allows me to do so much painting/gaming before wanting attention as you can see:

I think Sean will be comparing notes with you soon!
Always easier to paint with dog on your lap. It calms the brushstrokes.
martin ???
Can dogs be trained to do basic tasks - cleaning up figures, priming, basing...?
Simon
Maybe the idea for a future group build?
martin ???
I don't have a dog but we do have a pair of guinea pigs, they are good at gnawing wood perhaps I could get them to add an irregular shape to terrain templates.☺
Best wishes

Only thing my cat is useful for is dropping short black hairs on wet paint or sitting on stuff I don't wish sat on. Still wouldn't be without him though.
Derek
I have the same issue as Moggy, curious cats and the discovery of cat hairs in wet paint, or integrated with the glue on sabot bases used for undercoating and spraying... but like Moggy said, I wouldn't be without their company... ;D
My destructive feline belongs to a neighbour. It manages to get into my garage (war-games area) and sits on things etc. If I ever catch it, it will suffer. As you might have gathered I have an almost pathological hatred of cats.
John
My cat keeps me company whilst I whittle.
Never a critical word or admonishment.
Bliss.
