Title: Vague logout
Post by: Leman (Andy) on July 16, 2021, 01:28:37 PM
A shadowy logout has appeared partially covering 'RFCM discussion' in the header menu. This is preventing use of that header.

Andy,
Sorry to hear that - I don't have the same problem.
Is it still doing it?
Perhaps you've been singled out for special treatment  ;)?

Clearly Simon, as it is still there.

Sorry you're still being bugged with this, Andy.

Are you able to take a screenshot and share it here, so that Simon C can look into it?

No, as I do not know how to take a screen shot, or even what one is.

Sorry Andy, I wasn't trying to be difficult. A screenshot is when you take a picture of what is on your device's screen.
On a computer, there's usually a "print screen" button to do this. On a phone,  you generally have to press a couple of buttons at once.
If you are able to do this and find where the resulting image is saved (maybe in a folder called Pictures or Gallery), you would be able to upload it here using the blue "Add image to post" button at the foot of the message screen.
An alternative might be to shut down your device and restart everything (i.e. the standard IT fix for all ills).
Maybe Simon C has some thoughts about what could be going on here?

Hi Andy,

Try hitting Alt and Prt Sc (at the same time) that should capture an image of the active window, and then paste it into a word doc.

Here's an unhelpful hint. Turn off and on again.

Too late, Sean. I've already unhelpfully shared that one 😄.

So, not as useless as I thought. Anyway, click on the image and you can see the ghostly logout. If I go anywhere near it I DO get logged out.

Andy,
Well done on posting this. And that is very strange.
Am I right in thinking that you're using a PC?
And also that you've done the whole switch off and start again thing too?
Maybe logout, switch off, switch on and then log in again?
Sorry - this is a weird one...

The problem here is that the browser has either been resized, or not running a high enough resolution. Most likely the former. If you maximise the browser window it should return to normal. It just wrapping the text

thanks

That's fine, Martin.  We didn't want to distract you from your sculpting by calling on your IT skills as well.

I can recreate the issue on Chrome if I set the zoom to 175% or higher.  The logout from the top menu bar then wraps to a lower level in the browser window.

So as Simon says  ;) reset the zoom (CTRL and - ) to something lower.

Andy, that's good news and I have also learned how zoom in and out in my browser too.

Best wishes,
