Title: staff cars in 15mm or 1/100 scale
Post by: Theophanes on June 16, 2021, 10:11:55 AM
Hello, comrades!

Anybody knows the way to get some cars for our commanders?

Vauxhall D-Type, De Dion Bouton,...

STL files could be usefull, or any manufacturer

Thank you in advance

Angel.

Agreed, Sean.

The Crossley car (under the Russian WW1 range, pack #76) in particular makes a mighty fine carriage for any WW1 leader.

Must admit I do wish Martin would do something like the Austin Tilly and or Humber Snipe type or even a Ford/Chevrolet type of vehicle for the allies, especially the early war British and her allies.
But the New Dodge he does with a couple others of his does expand the 20/30's options a bit.

Phil at Battlefield 3d does some very nice resin prints - Austin 10 and a Austin Tilley for Brits, some other staff cars for German and Japs. I have also received some of his Dutch KNIL vehicles which are superb.
Worth a look on his web site, takes a good 2 weeks to deliver but seems a good guy. He has filled 3 orders from me with out any problem.

Wow - they [https://battlefield3d.com/] look excellent, Dave - best 15mm 3D models I've seen by a long shot

As The Mandalorian (if he were a wargamer - maybe he is?) would say - this is the way!

I got my Austin Kegresse from Butlers' Printed Models and while I note they do not do any staff cars the do a large range of WW1 to post WW2 vehicles and AFVs including armoured cars...

Neil,

They do indeed, but I do find - on those I have seen - the striations very visible (to the point that I'm not interested).

The different process that Battlefield 3D uses appears to provide a far superior result (although I've never seen them in the flesh).

This is the kind of reason why we need wargames shows to come back, so we can see products close up.

I think the difference is that 3D Battlefield print using resin rather than plastic. Resin prints are generally better quality, with no visible printing striations.

There is a general lack of 1930s civilian cars, trucks and buses in 1:100.

Having just recovered from the footie  ;D

I have Butlers and Battlefield 3d, the latter are by far the superior models and the price is comparable.  They really are top quality, equal to metal. I have some dutchman tanks which I have added a couple of commanders, and the Overvalwagon comes with a good selection of weapons which supplement them very nicely. The British ambulance (ice cold in Alex) is a gem.

Very nice, Dave - and models that can be hard to source elsewhere.

I do feel that there is a decent market out there for such one-off / low-run models that can be produced to order and don't require the expense or space for stock or moulds. Once someone's created the initial 3D file, of course.

Dave, the sight of an accurate Overvalwagen is a real sight for sore eyes. I have tried and failed miserably to remodel the old Q&S vehicle (with their permission). Please tell us more about this range.

These are the three dutch vehicles they currently stock. The light utility vehicle can be used as troops transport, or anti tank tows. The Overwagon comes with a range of weapons, cannon or machine guns. I found the company on e bay, phoned Phil and he directed me to his web page. The Dutchman tank is a really detailed little model. The company is fairly new, Phil has said he will be adding to the ranges.

Dave,
Thanks for this. I have just found the site and the Dutch range though small is very good.
My KNIL may have some new  equipment soon.
Mike.

Mike, he takes a good 2 weeks to get the order out. Having spoken with him a couple of times he seems a good chap.

Glad to have helped.
